Sally Hansen Miracle Nail Growth Review

I’ll be the first to hold up my hands and say that my nails are crap. Aside from having a full blown Nail biting addiction for most of my life, my health issues such as low vitamin D cause them to snap and break plus they’re ugly so I’m guilty of hiding them with nail polish. My nails were bending and breaking so much that I started to look into treatments and I stumbled across the Sally Hansen Miracle Nail Growth that is supposed to strengthen and lengthen them. I’ve gone through countless bottles of this so here’s a long overdue review.

The packaging is pretty plan but easy to spot and find. I”m not keen on the gold plus the sticker eventually peels off but I like the shape and it does the job which is the main thing. This isn’t the cheapest or most expensive of treatments sitting comfortably at £9.99 per bottle.

The description taken from the Boots website is as follows:
Sally Hansen Nailgrowth Miracle features: Exclusive protein complex prompts fast nail growth For soft, bitten, thin or damaged nails that just won’t grow. Soy protein binds moisture to nails – strengthening & lengthening without brittleness. Keratin helps protect nails against splitting, cracking and tearing
Collagen and multi-vitamins stimulate healthy nail growth for visibly longer, beautiful nails in 5 days. See the visible growth of your free edge nail in 5 days – Guaranteed to measure 30% longer.”

The brush is a standard thin nail polish and in terms of the product itself it’s a clear polish in it’s own right. It’s no thicker than a nail polish so simply apply one coat and allow to dry and you can paint over the top of it no problem. I use this in place of a base coat as it acts as a barrier between polish and my nails plus it has the lengthening benefits.

The drawback to this is that like top coats it seems to go gloopier quicker than nail polishes which does mean that as you get around halfway through you will notice the texture thicken up which can make it difficult to apply, but that’s not something I mind too much given the fact that it actually works and isn’t massively expensive.

I have noticed that this meets it’s product claims, I’ve not tested the ingredients so have to take that at face value but I can confirm that my nails are not only harder and stronger but they don’t split or crack and they do tend to grow more within five days. In terms of removal you can remove this just as easily as nail polish with bog standard nail polish remover, the clear polish also dries quickly and is impossible to make mistakes with.

As for the results? Take a look for yourself…

This photo was taken a few years ago and as you can see my nails are in a state. Bitten down to a stub, I also found that when they did grow to show even the smallest sliver of white they’d quickly bend or snap anyway and that’s if I didn’t bite them away first.

This photo was taken towards the end of last year, I kept putting off taking a photo because my health does mean that my nails are still prone to splitting and snapping however, there is noticeable growth when they just didn’t grow at all before. I’ve also noticed that they grow quicker, look healthier and they snap less frequently, what a difference!

I’m not going to sit here and say that this cures everything, my nails do still break and they aren’t in the best condition ever but the difference from me is noticeable and I have seen a significant improvement. Using this also helped me kick my nail biting habit (mostly I’m still occasionally a biter but very rarely now) and I feel much more confident as a result. I think it goes without saying that I will (and have multiple times) repurchase this and I would highly recommend it, a fantastic product from Sally Hansen!
