I love a good Hair mask and I fully expected to get on with this offering from Garnier. The Garnier Ultimate Blends range is one I love, in fact I actually have the Garnier The Strength Restorer Shampoo and Conditioner on the go at the moment since I fancied a change and the current weather is causing my hair and skin to dry out. With the cold air outside and arid conditions inside it’s easy for the skin and hair to become parched which is why it’s so important to use nourishing products to add moisture back in and this mask does exactly that.

I have a little sample of this that I got in a magazine but it does show an image of the packaging.I think the design suits the product, the cream and rich brown really reflect the macadamia nuts and coconut used in this product. Since this is Garnier the products are reasonably priced, a 300ml tub of this product will set you back £4.99 which works out at roughly £1.66 per 100ml – that’s decent!

Garnier describe this product as the following:

In terms of application, this is a pretty interested product as you can apply it three different ways, these include:
1 – As a rinse out hair mask
2 – Applied to wet hair without rinsing to detangle and smooth.
3 – Applied on dry hair to gentle smooth and tame.

I only tried it as a traditional hair mask (1) as I sometimes find that oil heavy products can sit in the hair and clog it up making it look greasy. My hair is very fine so doesn’t need heavy detangling and although I like the idea of it smoothing I have other products to do that. Having said that, I think that for afro hair in particular this will be great use as a serum or detangler.

I applied this in the shower after shampooing and in place of conditioner. I left it on for roughly three to five minutes and then rinsed and dried as normal. In terms of texture this is like a conditioner or lotion but it applies easily and smoothly. The scent is gorgeous it smells so nutty and coconutty it instantly made me thing of summer on a beach – I seriously love the smell.

How did it make my hair feel? Well in the shower my hair instantly got that silky, tangle free glossy feel which I love. I dried my hair with a hairdryer on a high heat setting and found that my hair remained silky, soft and glossy and didn’t seem to be as damaged by the heat or as staticy afterwards.

What I also love about this is how lightweight it is, it’s lighter than a conditioner and after rinsing my hair feels soft and bouncy, a total win!

Overall, I like this a lot. I’d be interested to try it when my hair is more damaged but if the rest of the Ultimate Blends range is anything to go by I think it would pack a hydrating punch for sure. I’d definitely recommend this and I would repurchase it myself, it’s lovely!
