Estee Lauder Doublewear Concealer Review

As a huge fan of the Estee Lauder Doublewear Foundation, it was more than likely that I was going to get on with the Concealer. I received some sample pods of the concealer a while ago as part of a large gifts set that was free with two purchases from Estee Lauder. Here’s my thoughts.

As mentioned I had some sample pods of this, within this little booklet was a sample pod of the Illuminating Perfecting Primer (which I am yet to try) and then three sample pods of the Doublewear Concealer in the shades: Light, Light Medium and Medium. The full sized version of this concealer retails for £22.50 which I do think is quite expensive for a concealer.

(Shade Light Medium in Pod)
I do think that the shade range was quite accurate, Light was the best shade for me although I could get away with Light Medium as long as I did a lot of blending. In the Doublewear Foundation I am in the shade Bone which is a pale yellow toned colour so that should give you the sort of idea of my skintone.

Like the foundation, the concealer also has very high coverage. I actually wore the concealer over my La Roche Posay Unifiant for a full day and I didn’t actually need any foundation as this had such high coverage. If I’m honest I don’t see what you would need both the foundation and the concealer as both are full coverage.

The concealer has quite a lightweight formula despite being so high in coverage. It is a little thicker than say the Collection Lasting Perfection concealer but it does blend. This does dry relatively quickly and you do ahve to blend it quite a lot to ensure that it blends into the skin rather than drying into lines so do take that into consideration. Although this is a fabulous concealer it is quite high maintenance.

For me, the main selling point of the Doublewear range is the longevity. I always find that by 5 o clock all of my makeup has come off, faded or smudged which isn’t ideal for working, yet this range manages to stay on my face all day. I actually have a photo of my makeup I had worn this concealer for around five to eight hours and you can see for yourself how little it has faded.

Overall, I am really impressed with this, it is a good option if you do need higher coverage or if you have a very light base and just need a little extra for blemishes and the like. I would use this again however, I don’t think I’d need to use this and the foundation in conjunction with one another. I would recommend this to those looking for a high coverage concealer.

The Estee Lauder Doublewear Concealer is available here for £22.50.
