THIS IS MY FIRST PAIR OF BIRKENSTOCK SANDALS

One can easily recognise a pair of Birkenstock sandals by the specific cork and rubber sole. For a while, I had a certain view of them – I was sure I’d never buy a pair of these shoes. They just didn’t seem to match my aesthetics. Once again I reminded myself I should never say never. :)

Birkenstock have a long story. Their creation dates back to 1896 when Konrad Birkenstock developed the first contoured insole for use by shoemakers in the production of custom footwear in Germany. After winning a name in podiatry among professionals, Carl Birkenstock launched the Madrid model in the 60s – the first fitness sandal with a deep and flexible footbed, laying the foundation for today’s comfort footwear market. In the recent years Birkenstock gained themselves a cult status by collaborating with different fashion brands and making more interesting designs overall. This is when they actually managed to win me and this Summer I got my first pair of Birkenstock Sandals which I can confirm myself now is truly a comfort shoe. Ideal for Summer vacations and casual outings.

What are your thoughts on Birkenstock shoes? Do you own a pair?
