I've come back completely different - a new person, new views and I think I might even be moving to NY in the next few months.
I spent so much of my youth focussed on boyfriends and what they wanted, on my career, on my fitness, my body. Now I just want to live life. There is nothing holding me back right now. Yes, I have a great job and family, but no man, no mortgage. Might be my only chance. Besides, New York has a plethora of gorgeous men, some of which I will mention in the following posts.
Anyway, into the diary.... here we go....
Day 1:
Left Mum and Dad's at 5:30am. Have been up since 4am. The check in was painful. We went to the 'bag drop off' line instead of check in, then had to line up again - almost a 2 hour wait. We got a Toby's Estate coffee. I took pic of Mum and Dad in front of the store and sent it to Toby. He loved it. Then Mum and Dad saw me off. They're so lovely. It all felt surreal.
I sat next to a lovely older couple from Victoria on the plane. We ended up talking about my job and why I was travelling (HOLIDAY !!). They actually used to be neighbours to the Murdochs. What a coincidence. There was a spare seat behind us so the husband moved to give me and his wife some more space, which was really sweet.
Flying long haul is a bitch. I watched Money Monster then had a nap (thanks Dad for the valium), then watched some Canadian film (was flying Air Canada) with Daniel Radcliffe called 'What If' - pretty good actually! Well, I'm not sure if it was good or if I was just really bored, but it kept me entertained. I did some reading as well.
We had lunch at midday AUS time (they called it dinner)- beef and rice with a side salad. I threw away (well gave away) the cake obviously. #lovehandleswontbringlove
Update: Just had half a Turkey roll as well. It's midnight Canada time (5:16am Aus time). I'm going to have another wine, pop a valium and then try and sleep.
Update2: There are 7 hours left on this flight and we are set to touch down in Vancouver at 7:15am. Then an hour stopover and another 5 hours to NYC. Wish me luck with the sleep!
