We’re closing in on the end of the year and I couldn’t be more excited about it! Not that you can tell from my face in these photos. But trust me, I am excited.
As I did last year, I’ve compiled another master list of great things that happened this year to remind myself of all the events I have to be thankful for. There are many! Shoutout to Passion Planner for helping me keep track.
Good Things That Happened in 2016:
- FASHION SHOW. I was featured in a fashion show. Made friends with a lot of cool people as a result. You can watch the video here.
- Spent the first half of 2016 teaching myself beginner French on Duolingo.
- Went to Paris and London, visited Dover Street Market and saw lots of runway Comme des Garçons.
- Quit my office job for retail experience, worked my way to a consignment store in the East Bay where I am very happy! Not having to commute to SF has been a blessing in itself.
- Finally got financial aid for school.
- Ate A LOT of ramen.
- Design skills have significantly improved and I’m enrolled in my final semester of fashion school. Started a portfolio.
- Oh, and I got another 4.0 this past semester!
- Met Ana Lily Amirpour at the premiere of The Bad Batch and I visited the Guillermo del Toro exhibit, all within 24 hours. Cried tears of joy from seeing work by my favorite artists.
- Booked a trip to New York to see MORE Comme des Garçons at the Met.
- Was finally Mothman for Halloween!
- Kristopher and I took our first vacation together! And I saw Pee Wee’s bicycle in real life.
In the photos I’m wearing my enormous gray Eileen Fisher alpaca jacket from Nordstrom Rack, a gray Muji flannel button down, a gray Muji maxi skirt (I used to work at Muji), a secondhand oversized/distressed/100% cotton knitted Religion scarf from Ebay, my eye tote, and secondhand Prada boots from The RealReal. Moscot glasses. Vintage fish bone earrings. Mom hair.
I AM planning to get my hair cut soon. And I’m brainstorming ways to update my blog next year. I have a few ideas, some new equipment I’ve been eyeing…and I say this every year, but I really really want to film lookbooks.
One more thing: Kristopher (my boyfriend who photographs everything, if you don’t already know) is having surgery early next week so please keep him in your thoughts! Any extra positive energy is appreciated. ❤️
