Etude House Soon Jung 5-Panthenoside Cica Balm Review

Hello, lovelies~ My blog used to be post after post of just skincare reviews, tips, and routines. Back then (in 2010-2013), skincare wasn't as big as it was right now. People prefer foundation reviews, over serum reviews. However, I am still in love with skincare products and procedures even after all those years of not blogging.

One of the first skincare products that I am currently loving for my combination-oily skin is an Etude House product. Luckily, this didn't break me out (horribly) like other EH products on my skin. Let me introduce you to ...

Etude House Soon Jung 5-Panthenoside Cica Balm

Such a long name, I know.
This is a Balm type product that I use for the drier parts of my skin. If there is a dry patch or peeling anywhere on my face, I would apply this balm LIGHTLY on those areas.

Ah, the ingredients, yes.
I got this list from Female Daily forum because I already threw the box away. Thanks, Female Daily!

An important ingredient to note here is Squalane (not squalene). It's friendlier towards acne-prone skin, making less likely to cause acne. Squalane works great at hydrating the skin as it is a type of emollient. With routine application, it also strengthens the skin's barrier because it is adding more ceramides (in this case, the squalane) to help restore the epidermal barrier.

Another important ingredient is the madecassoside, a compound found in Centella asiatica, which helps soothe sensitive skin and revitalizes it. More study is needed to see the benefits of this amazing plant, but it looks promising.

Last important ingredient would have to be Camellia Sinensis leaf extract (or green tea) that has many benefits to the skin. It has antioxidant properties as well as being soothing for the skin. These three are placed high on the ingredients list, too!

As far as the eye can see, this balm is free from alcohol (the drying type), parabens, and fragrance.  The rest are mostly a mix of skin surfactant, conditioning, chelating agent, etc. However, if you are allergic to some of the ingredients listed here, try it on a small patch of skin before applying them in larger areas, okay?

The product has a balm texture that blends out effortlessly and leaves no oily residue afterwards. It leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth. A little does go a long way, so I usually apply a thin layer of product on my problem areas. It usually solves my patchy skin quite fast.

Have you tried this balm before? I  read in the forums that some people use it for the acne, to dry them up. I tried that, but it doesn't seem to work for me. It just makes the acne every bigger and angrier. Thanks for reading and until then, I'll see you later~
