Outfit Post: Masculine vibes

Whilst I'm a huge fan of girly and lady like outfits, I'm no stranger to mannish fashion trends and masculine looks either. Every now and then I long to dip my toe into these hidden corners of fashion. Last year I invested into an over-sized Zara cardigan and I paired it with baggy jeans quite a lot. It's been featured on my blog in my "heaven doesn't seem so far away" post, so don't forget to visit!

Now, boyfriend jeans and baggy tops aside, this masculine trend has stolen my heart and every now and then creeps back into my life. This time it's in the form of a Warehouse textured raw edge biker coat. I adore its peak collar, wide but straight fit, raw edges and two side pockets that completes the leisure look entirely. Bikers coats have been a big hit for a few seasons and it seems they're going to stay with us for a bit longer so I wasn't really scared into investing into this staple piece.

When styling today's outfit, I wanted to be very careful. Whilst I adore masculine trends, I'm quite wary of my silhouette and want to stay faithful to my own style.

Contrast was a key with this look. I styled my new biker coat with my staple Mango skinny jeans and to balance the entire look off I wore a crispy, white Zara blouse underneath to overload on the textured goodness of the coat. I matched the biker coat with my grey heels to keep it all in one tone for my lunch date but also to add a bit of the good old masculine-feminine clash.

I can very easily see myself styling this biker coat with my ripped boyfriends jeans and a pair of white trainers to add a bit of cool edge and to recreate a look according to the latest fashion trends. However, this time I kept my mannish outfit of the day quite simple, keeping the colour palette neutral, starting with colour blocking and building the look up with patterns of the coat to create the most prominent look.

I'm seriously seriously swooning over this coat and it has become  my main item for this winter / spring season transition. This beaut from Warehouse ticks the textured trend and executes masculine vibes just perfectly.

What do you think about adding masculine trend pieces into your wardrobe? Is that yay or nay?

Yours truly,

Dash xx
