Top 5 tips for a stress free holiday shopping

We all know it, don’t we. The excitement of booking Holiday, looking forward to doing nothing and just about everything, whether that is sipping on your cocktails on a beach, swimming in the clear sea or walking across historical towns and discovering their hidden secrets. It’s all about relaxing just the way you want it. I’m the same, full of childish excitement that might explode any minute.

Though, I’m not sure about you, but I find the few days before holiday extremely stressful. To make sure everything is sorted, paid for, booked, all tickets and bookings printed of and don’t let me even start on the work because to make sure everything is sorted before I leave is the most stressful thing.

I tend to pack last minute for any holiday, though i do Shopping well in advance, any excuse to shop, I’m in, right! And whilst I love shopping, it can also be a fairly stress packed experience. So, this year, my husband decided to make it an enjoyable whole day experience, packed not only with shopping but also fun and fine dining. He took me to Liverpool to make sure we were doing a bit more than just running around shops like headless chickens.

And this is why I thought this might actually be great idea for a post. How do you cope with the whole experience of shopping and how can we actually make sure the shopping experience is as less painful as it can be.

Make It Fun

That certainly was my husband’s idea. Not only did he take me somewhere I’ve never been, but he also made sure we’re going to have fun. We had a lovely breakfast on our way there, sipped on espresso in a local coffee shop, whilst sitting outside (it was sunny for once!) but he also took me for a lunch in a local  restaurant. He’s done his research of the area using a local site Liverpool One (if anyone’s interested). He just pulled it off.

Make a list

Don’t we all know this one only too well? Yes we do, in an ideal world we would either remember it all and didn’t get distracted  or we would write a list for just about anything. I’m the last person to write a list, outside of work that is. I find the whole process very tedious. However I’ve found this so helpful. Think about where you going, what are the activities and what you need to take with you. Now, write it all down. This way you don’t get distracted, you’ll stay on target and you’ll avoid the anxious feeling that you’ve forgotten to get something.

Set a Budget

Now that you know what you getting, set yourself a budget. At this point you’ll know what is the estimated cost of your shopping list so you’ll know what to expect once you’re in shop. I’ve actually done this and it helped me to stay on target. I bought everything that was on my list and managed not to overspend.

Start Early

If you know when you going …This way you can also hit the stores with sales on. Every little helps, right! You might ended up saving yourself quite a bit, perfect for a pocket money on holiday, because who likes to worry about money on holiday, right! I got all my suncreams and hygiene essentials from Boots on 2 for 1 and saved myself quite a fortune.

Do Your Research

Now this was my favourite. This is not your usual research style, so don’t freak out! Pinterest offers vast pool of ideas, ready for you to dip in. Summer dresses for a beach? You got it. Hiking gear for summer in Alps? You got it. I mean, who doesn’t use Pinterest nowadays? Oh, and do follow my Pinterest or check out my summer dresses board!

I just wish I took my camera with me but then I would probably be snapping pics rather than shopping.

So these were my top 5 tips on how to survive the Holiday Shopping season without busting your budget or going crazy. What are your tips for a stress free shopping?
