Outfit Post: The One With A Choker

9o's is back! At least thats how I feel when I look around me. Chokers, dungarees, Crop Tops, this trend has certainly been creeping back ... '90s resurgence'! Some of you might not remember but I remember it like it was yesterday...of course I do. It was the time I become a teenager, (yup, I'm quite old)!

A young bright eyed girl that started to discover fashion trends, wore crop tops, dungarees and even had her hair either crimped or super crazy cornrow, twisty and butterfly clip situation....yes you read that right, that was the fashion trend and yes, you were IN. Life just didn't get any better back then. It was also time of blue eye shadows and lip gloss that made your hair constantly stick to it. Oh boy we were so 'COOL' back then.

Whilst I feel too old for dungarees and crop tops, I'm ready to welcome back and embrace the 'choker trend' yet again. After all, the selection nowadays is one that would make me 'fall-flat-on-my-back-and-spin-around-for-hours (please read: to die for) back in the days. To name a few you can get your hands on metal, rhinestone, leather, velvet, ribbon, crochet or bejewelled choker, making it impossible to settle for just one particular style. Not only that, this trend can satisfy even the pickiest fashionista and it won't break the bank. Chokers are literally the most affordable accessory out there...just saying.

I've been running around shops in awe debating with my inner self whether I can transform that spare room of mine into a "red room of chokers". To my husband's relief I only got a few, though the shopping assistants looked a bit disappointed.
This black choker of mine is a perfect clever mix of metal and fabric (lace) to create that precise gothic look. In fact wearing a choker adds edge to any outfit and accents the throat. The styling trick, it seems, lies in what you pair your choker with. I like to pair it with an off shoulder top or an off shoulder dress as it can create the most intriguing look.

I wore this outfit last Sunday, when I was 'lunching out' with my hubby in Leeds. I've recently wrote in my Lady Like Office Wear Outfit Post that I'm on the lookout for some new faux leather skirts and a week later I came across this New Look number. The fit is actually perfect and I've been wearing it perhaps way too much.

I also had my hair done that day and once my hairdresser found out I'm doing a blog shoot later on, he decided to style my hair as well. We opted for curls and I just loved the contrast it created with my highlights, especially when sun shone threw them. I like to go slightly darker during winter to make sure it contrasts with my lighter skin.

To me, part of the choker's appeal is rooted in nostalgia. 90's were a good time to be a teenager and I'll cherish my memories forever.

Q1: How about you, what were you doing during 90's and how do you feel about this latest fashion trend?

Q2: What was the craziest trend that you ever went for? Please let me know in comments!
