When myself and Tom moved in together, it was February and with our colour scheme of oranges and coppers, we couldn't find much in the shops to buy. I ended up working my way through around three cans of Spray Paint, buying things and painting them and painting things I already had to make them work. It really was a lifesaver, so here are 5 things you can do with copper spray paint.
We always have spare plant pots and planters around the house. I have two plant pots that I used to store my make-up brushes in. Originally, these were pastel with a cream stripe. I taped off the cream stripe, gave them a few coats of copper spray paint and they perfectly fit in with my new colour scheme and they ended up being super cheap to create.
Paper lampshades make a great canvas for spray paint. My sister gave me two cream lamps after she didn't want them anymore. The cream would have been fine, but I wanted to try giving them a coat of paint. The paper actually took the paint really well and I love how the copper looks when illuminated. They add a perfect pop of colour to the bedside tables.
When looking for a bin for our bedroom, I really wanted one of those copper mesh ones, but all the ones I'd seen were £20+. I ordered a cheap silver mesh bin from Amazon for around £4 and gave this a couple of coats of spray paint. It was awkward to paint due to the shape, but it turned out a treat and looks just as good as the store bought copper ones.
When shopping around for home decor, I found an amazing nest of tables from Marks and Spencers that came in a coral colour. Although the coral would have been fine, I couldn't help giving them a fresh coat of paint. Although they aren't perfect and have been knocked a couple of times, they look awesome! I'll probably sand them down and repaint when they start to look a little more worn, but for now, I love them.
I bought a wooden mirror to hang and decided I wanted to try and pull the colour palette of our home into it. I taped off half of the mirror diagonally and spray painted the other half. The finished look was awesome and the diagonal pattern looked super modern. I can't wait to find some other things to spray paint!
