Reasons Why I Don't Want To Become A Full Time Blogger

This is a post that I've seen floating around for a while and I've been meaning to getting round to writing something about it for ages. I remember taking part in a Twitter chat around two years ago, feeling like the only person who didn't want to become a full time Blogger.

01: My blog is my hobby. If it ever became my Career, I'm not sure I'd still enjoy it as much as I do. Considering the fact that I write content and work on Social Media as my career currently, means I have a little insight into how it'd be if I was working on this blog full time. I think I'd end up losing my love for it, it would feel more like a chore and I never want it to become that.

02: I have started building my career in digital marketing and marketing psychology and I have a career plan and aspirations that I want to achieve. Right now, doing the job that I'm doing and knowing what I'm aiming for, I can't Imagine myself doing anything different with my life.

03: Becoming self-employed seems terrifying. I'm a total control freak and I love the security of having a full time income each month. I know that the money I get it going to pay the bills. I love my little house and car and I'd be really gutted if I couldn't still enjoy those whilst saving for the future. I can't imagine not knowing where my next paycheck was coming from.

04: I am a total workaholic. I feel like this would be my biggest flaw if I was self-employed. I don't know when to stop and will always try and do everything on my to-do list, even if it means I am working from 9am-9pm. I also can't imagine giving myself holidays and I'd probably work through weekends. It would end up consuming my entire life and I really don't think that it is a healthy way to live.

05: My blog did go quite a long way into helping me get the job that I'm in now and I am so grateful for that. However, now that I am in the job, even with the similarities, my home life and work life is very separate, and I like that. I can come home from work and switch off, get on with some knitting and blogging and have a relaxed evening. My work/life balance is great right now and if I became a full time blogger, I definitely think the balance would be off and I'm not sure how I'd handle that.
Would you become a full time blogger if you had the chance?
