5 Tips For Moving House

Moving out feels like a lifetime ago. It Honestly feels like we've been in our new house for ages and since doing the move, I've realised some pretty handy tips that can make Moving way less stressful.

01: Start early. You will have more things to pack than you ever imagined. I did a little bit of packing in the run-up but left the majority of it until the night before. This wasn't ideal. I ended up tiring myself out and going to be super late, which definitely wasn't great prep for the busy day of moving. If possible, make sure everything you need to pack (apart of essentials) is packed a few days before so you don't need to worry about last minute disasters.

02: Pack an open first box that goes into the car as late as possible so it hopefully comes off somewhere near the front. In our open first box, we had a kettle, tea and coffee, milk, toilet roll, crisps and some snacks. This was perfect because it meant as soon as we got in, I could make a cuppa which is definitely the fuel that we used to keep us going.

03: Get extra help if you need it. Myself and Tom knew we weren't hiring a removal van but being that we both have tiny cars, it definitely took a fair few trips to get everything over. My Grandad volunteered his car and driving services for the bigger bits that just wouldn't fit in my car. This was super Helpful and definitely saved me a lot of driving and petrol back and forth.

04: Pack everything by room and label everything on all four sides and top of the Boxes. This may seem like overkill but honestly, this was so helpful to us. This way, everyone knew at a glance where the boxes were supposed to be. We didn't waste time moving things that had been put in the wrong place, all we had to do was unpack the boxes in each room.

05: If you can get your family/friends in to help, definitely do it! My Mum and Dad helped us with unpacking and sorting things out and honestly, it was so helpful. We managed to get everything unpacked and sorted on that first day which meant we weren't living out of boxes. I'm so grateful for all the help that we got and it definitely helped to make the move easy and prevented lots of stress.
