I am a big lover of arts and crafts and where possible, I Love to be able to home make and DIY things, especially items for my home and interior. Recently, I've been making some little Copper Letter Monograms, inspired by similar things I've seen on the high street and I love how they turned out.
This was such a simple DIY and to complete it, it probably only cost around £2-£3. I love the initials so much that I'm actually toying with making them in a couple of other varieties for other rooms in the house. For this DIY, all you will need are some paper Mache Letters and I got mine from Hobbycraft. They come in two sizes, I decided to go for the slightly smaller size for mine so that they could sit on my fireplace. I also picked up some Acrylic Paint in the colour Antique Gold and some ModPodge.
The DIY itself was super simple. All I did was used a medium sized paintbrush to cover the mache letters completely in copper paint. I painted two layers over my letters and left them to dry. This acrylic paint was great because it dried super quickly which meant there wasn't any dead time between the DIY steps. I finished the letters by covering them in a layer of ModPodge, just to seal in all the colour.
These letters turned out so well and they are now sat on top of my fireplace which is definitely the perfect place for them. I'm so tempted to make some that say actual words, such as cosy, for the bedroom as I just love how they look. They really bring the room together!
