Dream A Little Dream by Giovanna Fletcher

If you've been in these waters for a while, you will know that Giovanna Fletcher is one of my authors so I was pretty excited to read the third Book from her, Dream A Little Dream.
This the the third of Giovanna's books. Her first was Billy And Me and this was hands down, my favourite book that Giovanna has written. Her second was You're The One That I Want and although it was good, I didn't enjoy it as much as I did Billy And Me. I have been patiently waiting for a while for the third book to be released and I was exciting to see whether it lived up to either of the first two.

Dream A Little Dream follows the story of Sarah, a single PA who spends too much time around her ex-boyfriend and his new girlfriend. She begins to dream about a 'perfect boyfriend' who turns out to be not just someone in her dreams, but someone who seems remarkably like someone in her real life. It is a romantic comedy full of sections based in the dream world and the real world, with the two overlapping and containing mutual ideas and themes.

The fact that the book is split into two sections doesn't make the book confusing at all. The dream world is always written in italics, whereas the rest of the book is in regular font which represents the real world. It is a really great way of splitting the book, but allowing the content to still get through without the reader getting confused.

The characters are developed really well and although you meet all of Sarah's group of friends alongside her family, the characters plots never get muddled. Surprisingly, a lot of the characters stories are gone into in a lot of depth, with their stories running parallel to Sarah's. I never once had to flick back through the book and check who someone was because it was always made super clear.

The plot developed at a great rate. I never felt like I wanted the book to slow down or to be over quicker. I feel like I got the information that I needed and wanted and rarely felt like I wanted to know something that hadn't already been covered in the plot. The entire story feels really real. It doesn't feel like I'm reading about a fictional character, it feels like I'm reading about a real PA and her group of friends.

Although this didn't top BIlly And Me for me (well what can unless it makes me cry?), I definitely enjoyed it more than You're The One That I Want, so it definitely didn't disappoint. I'm already excited for Giovanna's next release, I always find them going straight to the top of my to read list.
