PLATFORM SANDALS: STYLING THESE SHOES FOR WORK

This summer, you will see many platform Sandals to choose from. I enjoy wearing them because the platform mitigates the heel height so I can wear taller heels without them being too tall. In addition, that platform also acts as a shock absorber for the balls of the feet. Instead of the balls of your feet being protected by a thin sole, the front of the feet have more protection. Of course, there are downsides. If you have weak ankles, platform shoes can be dangerous. Hit a crack in a sidewalk or take an unsteady step and those platform shoes can fail you.

PLATFORM SANDALS: STYLING THESE SHOES FOR WORK

Wearing platform shoes casually is sort of a no-brainer but for work, they require a little more nuance. First, they’re not exactly corporate-friendly. More conservative workplaces usually don’t allow sandals to begin with not to mention the fact that platform sandals don’t typically look all that great with the types of looks worn in these environments. However, given the more casual environments of many workplaces, platform sandals can be a viable choice. In this week’s post, I have styled five different work looks with platform sandals.

OUTFIT #1

For a work environment where jeans are permitted, I styled this Outfit using this chic pair of platform sandals by Seychelles. A client recently purchased them and they are super cool. I paired the shoes with wide-leg jeans from FRAME, a short-sleeved sweater tee from MM. Lafleur, and an ivory tailored knit jacket from Veronica Beard. The outfit is finished with mini drop earrings from Anthropologie and an interchangeable link bracelet from Machete.

OUTFIT #2

I own and love these platform sandals from M.Gemi. I have told this story before but I once inadvertently walked five miles in them. I also had one instance where I was traveling and spent the day sightseeing in other shoes, came home with incredibly sore feet, and put these shoes on for dinner and my feet were incredibly comfortable wearing them.

I styled my favorite platform sandals with a pair of wide-leg navy pants from Boden, a navy silk t-shirt top, and a striped cardigan from J.Crew.

OUTFIT #3

For a more casual work environment, I styled this easy bright orange dress from Simhkai with a pair of neutral-colored platform sandals from Stuart Weitzman. I finished the look with a gold statement necklace from Lele Sadoughi.

OUTFIT #4

Two weeks ago, I did a post on wearing maxi skirts to work and this style is similar in look to those outfits. With these platform sandals from Bernardo, I styled a fun polka dot max skirt from J.Crew with a crisp white button-down shirt that I belted with this belt from Ann Taylor.

OUTFIT #5

This last look addresses another trend for the season, the polo shirt. Perhaps there will be a post about them in the future. I styled these platform sandals from Aersoles with a pair of tapered pleated pants from Everlane and a polo from Rag & Bone. I finished the outfit with a brown belt and horn and brass earrings.
