Last week, I shared my post about using photography as color inspiration to create beautiful looks. You can read the blog post here and see the outfits I created. When I do posts like this, I always invite readers to create their own looks using this same approach. It’s really wonderful to see what everyone comes up with.
For this contest, I gave the participants the option to choose one of the five photos from last week’s post as their inspiration for their inspirational photography outfit. There were no restrictions on how these looks could be created. They could be created using a finalist’s wardrobe photo, built as a collage using pieces found online, or any other creative way that got them inspired.
IT’S TIME TO VOTE FOR YOUR FAVORITE OUTFIT
You are going to decide our winner by voting for your favorite outfit created. Each entry includes the image they chose to work with so you can see how our finalists used the image to create their looks. The winner, who will receive a Bridgette Raes Style Group tote bag and set of our six Stylish Bridgetteisms coasters, will be announced next Monday, so you have a week to vote.
FINALIST #1
Finalist #1, Carlene, found the colors by photographer Gary Eaton lovely, and the setting serene and contemplative. She created a look that seems to flow in the same silky way as the water using the Vince blouse while also bringing in the organic qualities of the plants and the stone foundation of the chapel using the L’Agence jacket, Veronica Beard espadrilles, Lilly Pulitzer bag. The mossy green of the Veronica Beard pants ties the elements together, as does the multiple-strand necklace from Etsy. Carlene said, “this is an outfit that can go from the office to an evening out but could just as easily work for a walk in the country.”
FINALIST #2
Eva, our second finalist, was fascinated by the color combination of aqua and warm pink in this photo by Auden Johnson. The dress our finalist owns was the springboard that created this look. Eva called this outfit, “an evening-out fun outfit with a lot of texture but simple colors.” The very dark burgundy shoes ground the velvet dress and long aqua earrings, and Eva offered us two bag options, the hummingbird bag she called “more fun” and the ombré one which she also felt was easy to pair with this look.
FINALIST #3
Anneke, our third finalist, was inspired by the same photo as Carlene and used items right from her closet. She said, “the photo gave her inspiration for an upcoming day trip.” She loved the moody greens and chartreuse and used her Hobbs cost, a Coccinelle bag, and a cashmere scarf she bought in Delhi, India. Anneke used her top from Seasalt Cornwall to pick up the lines of the water and also styled the look with jeans from Marks and Spencer.
FINALIST #4
Krystina, finalist #4 and another fan of this Gary Eaton photo and said, “recreating outfits from photos as it gives us an opportunity to be mindful and play with what’s already in our closets.” Krystina also didn’t need to go far to find the right pieces because she loves green. it wasn’t difficult for her to grab her forest green leather purse and green corduroy cargos to complete her ensemble. Even without this contest, this is a look she already wears this outfit on repeat, but said, “I would not have thought of wearing this much-loved scarf with this outfit,” which her daughter knit for her when she was trying to stay calm while studying at university. Her comment really proves how inspiration, like photography, can make us look at our wardrobe, and how to use it, differently.
