New Chanel Eyes Collection & Fall 2021 Makeup

I think I might have missed the Fall season… the passing of the days / weeks / months seem to have lost their meaning without any significant events to look forward to.  But Christmas is fast approaching, and it would not do to skip the latest updates from my favourite makeup house.

Over the past couple of months, Chanel has released its 2021 Eyes Collection, which includes some much needed expansion to my favourite Le Stylo Yeux Waterproof line as well as 2 new Les 4 Ombres.  Hot on the heels of that, was a succinct Fall-Winter makeup collection that featured tone-on-tone plays of 4 warm natural hues.  Here are some swatches for your reference.

Chanel Eyes Collection 2021

I love how Chanel emphasises the eyes in their makeup collection, and the annual updates to their eye makeup range is far too underrated imho.  Their Le Stylo Yeux Waterproof is my favourite eye liner for the past 10 years, and I collect and hoard most of their limited edition colors.  There are perhaps more budge-resistant ones in the market, more pigmented ones or whatever, but few of them check off as many criteria as Le Stylo Yeux Waterproof.  For starters, these do not require sharpening, but in case you ever feel the need, there is an ingenious sharpener built in for convenience.  They are so smooth and easy to swipe; are blendable within the first few seconds but then set and are largely budge-proof on all but the oiliest lids.  I find them just perfectly pigmented, provides definition with a single swipe, not so intense that if you mess up life is ruined.  The list goes on…

With the latest additions, there are now 14 permanent shades to choose from.  There is a nice range of matte – satin – metallic finishes, and your choice of staple black/brown or coloured.  I received 5 from Chanel recently, 3 of them are from the existing offerings, 2 (marked with *) are new.  Noir Intense and Espresso have been staples in my daily makeup case for years, and now I have also added Khaki Metal to it.  That silver micro-shimmer just gets me!

There are also 2 new Les 4 Ombres added to the permanent collection of eyeshadow palettes.  I received Douceur et Sérénité, which is a quad composed of taupes and purples.

Here are the swatches according to their respective placement on the palette:

In clockwise direction starting from top left:

  • Light cool-toned taupe with a satin finish
  • Dark grey with a cool purple undertone and a satin finish
  • Medium-bright plummy red with a matte finish
  • Medium-dark purple with lilac and silver micro-shimmers

It has been a very long time since I took time to apply eyeshadow properly, and the beauty of Douceur et Sérénité really got me back into the groove!  I will show you a full makeup look featuring this palette shortly, but first, let me quickly show you…

Chanel Fall-Winter 2021 Makeup Collection

For Fall-Winter 2021, Chanel has built a small collection around 4 colours – warm grey, khaki, terracotta, and reddish brown.  Each colour is interpreted for eyes down to the finger tips, designed for timeless wear and easy coordination.

The eye makeup offerings from Fall-Winter complement the previous Eyes Collection beautifully, with 4 Stylo Ombre et Contour jumbo eye pencils and 4 Ombre Premiere Laque in the same shades.  Chanel has designed these to be layered over each other, starting first with the Stylo Ombre et Contour as a base and to define the upper and lower lash lines, followed by sweeping the metallic Ombre Premiere Laque over the upper lid for a dramatic pop.  I received 2 matching shades of each, and have swatched them here for you…

It has been quite some time since Chanel introduced a new Joues Contraste cheek colour, and so I was surprised and happy to see this season’s latest shade called Ombre.  As you can see from the swatch above, Ombre has a satin finish, and is a warm-toned bronze.  It gives cheeks that post-summer glow, but for fairer skin tones like mine, works beautifully as a bronzer and for sculpting.

There are also 4 Chanel Le Vernis in each of the featured shades.  The one I have swatched above is Brun Fume, a really elegant deep khaki.

Next up is Chanel Le Vernis Rouge Brun.  This is a sexy chocolate-red which will see me through the coming holiday season.

Lastly, there is another classic red from Chanel called Terre Brûlée.  Chanel makes the most elegant reds and this is no exception.  There is another shade called Beige Cendre, unfortunately I do not have that shade to show you.

As promised, here is a makeup look featuring Les 4 Ombres Douceur et Sérénité.  I also lined my eyes with Le Stylo Yeux Waterproof Noir Intense.  On my cheeks is the new Joues Contraste Ombre which photographed more pink than in real life.  I am wearing 1 of the accompanying Rouge Allure Velvet lipsticks on my lips, called Mode.  This is a medium-bright warm-toned red.

So, did you see anything here that you like?
