Benefit Makes Me Want to Get My Hoola On and Twinkle Away!

Hola amigos!  I just came back from a 2-week long vacation in Spain, which explains why posts have been few and short over the past few days.  It was nice to be away for awhile, but man the jetlag is a real bother.  I’m determined to hold onto that summer vacation-glow for as long as I can, and with the many options that Benefit now offers, I can achieve it and shave a few minutes off my makeup routine for some extra snooze!

Benefit Hoola has been a huge fan favourite for years due to its matte finish and flattering shade that suits most medium skin tones.  However, it was only available in 1 shade, and there is no such thing as 1 size fits all in makeup.  Thankfully, Benefit has now released a new Hoola Lite for those of us who are much fairer!  The texture is as finely milled and creamy smooth as the original Hoola, and has a soft matte finish that allows for the sunkissed glow to show without falling over to sweaty sheen.  Hoola Lite comes in the same box o’ powder carton packaging as its predecessor, and a brush sits in a clear plastic tray atop of the powder.

The brand has also released a new Benefit Hoola Quickie Contour Stick.  Cute bamboo-inspired packaging aside, this is a cream-to-powder product that allows you to just swipe on the face and blend out with a few easy taps of the fingers.  Most cream cheek products don’t work on me, especially with the tropical humidity here in Singapore, but I was really happy to find this Hoola Quickie sets after a few minutes and does not budge, fade nor oxidize as the day progresses.

To complete that perfect summer glowy complexion, Benefit has added a new Dandelion Twinkle to its family of powder highlighters.  This is a pale champagne gold highlighter with a light touch of sheen and some sparse golden micro-shimmers.  It has good opacity for a highlighter, and can be either blended out to be much sheerer or built up for greater intensity.  I love how well it melds with my skin tone, and does not emphasize pores even when buffed into the apples of my cheeks.

I swatched the Hoola trio along with Dandelion Twinkle so you can see how each of them vary.  On my roughly NC25 skin, Hoola Lite is really very subtle, and is probably good as an all-over finishing powder to give a post-vacation lingering sun-kissed effect.  I also use it on the sides of my nose to gently sculpt, as I hate using anything darker that ends up feeling like smudges of dirt by the end of the day >>face toucher woes

And here is a make up look featuring Benefit Hoola Quickie Contour Stick to sculpt my cheeks, and Benefit Hoola Lite along the sides of my nose.

Have you got your summer vacay makeup bag all sorted yet?  If not, pop by a Benefit counter and check these goodies out!

This post featured products that were generously provided for my consideration.  Regardless, all opinions expressed here are my own honest, unbiased views.
