Spring is a time for new beginnings. The lingering traces of winter are pushed away as flower buds blossom and explode into brilliant color. Makeup palettes become more vibrant to match the warmer breeze. The whole world seems to just glow.
On May 12, the rosy glow of spring was just a little brighter at the second annual Mary Kay Global Day of Beauty. As part of Mary Kay’s efforts to provide 1 million “Makeovers for Good,” Global Day of Beauty pampered women in need with the help of our independent sales force in countries around the world.
In the U.S., we hosted domestic violence survivors in New York for a makeover and luncheon event. These women are currently living in emergency housing or are in transition to rebuild their lives after fleeing abusive relationships.
Mary Kay Makeup Artist Virginia Linzee shared tips as she led attendees through the application of a sunny, golden look which was customized to feature the limited-edition* Beauty That Counts® Hearts Together® Lipstick in a special tribute to the survivors. In the U.S., from May 15 through Aug. 14, Mary Kay is donating $1 from each sale of this limited-edition lipstick to benefit The Mary Kay Foundation’s annual Shelter Grant Program which provides $3 million in funding each year to women’s shelters and survivors of abuse. After the makeovers, Fashion Designer Tracy Reese shared her insights on spring fashion trends alongside timeless silhouettes. During the luncheon portion, all of the attendees were treated to an intimate acoustic performance from Kelsea Ballerini, the reigning Academy of Country Music® New Female Vocalist of the Year.
