Angkor Wat in Retrospective

Somehow, somehow during my stint of being a terrible blogger (I’m over it now, I swear) I forgot to post these pictures from Cambodia, which are actually some of my favourite ever! I mentioned a while back that we did a bicycle tour around the temples, and I literally had this dress packed away in my built-in bicycle bag to change into. Although this dress isn’t my usual style, I loved the colours (obviously lots of yellow in there) and I needed something that adhered to the usual temple rules of long lengths and covered shoulders.

I had visions of really epic photos – like one of my favourite bloggers; Rebecca from The Clothes Horse. At the time I quite liked these photos, but I didn’t feel that we had captured what I wanted.. Basically there were a LOT of people around and we had to really hunt for this quiet spot. The sun was shining really brightly too, and we couldn’t wait for the clouds to roll in, since we had to go back on our bicycle tour. Things didn’t work out, and that’s totally okay. When you’re at Angkor Wat in Cambodia, you just have to be chill and enjoy it, trying not to fret about what photos you did or didn’t capture. Even though that can be really frustrating, then and there.

It’s funny what a little time – or three months, in this case, away from photos can do in terms of perspective. Now, looking back at these I am so incredibly pleased with how they came out! They don’t make me think of how frustrated I was at the weather, that I was really sweaty, or that there were people literally each side of this photo. I just think about how I was at one of the world’s greatest wonders, with my love by my side, and just how plain lucky I was to be there.

Sometimes a little time is all you need.
