Last Minute Costumes: Dorothy

ASOS, I’m looking at you!)

The main aspects of Dorothy’s outfit are the pinafore and red shoes. I borrowed these heels, and the pinafore is one I picked up on a very, very lucky thrifting trip (but you can find a similar one here). Wear a plain white t-shirt or blouse underneath. In my case, I did a little ode to Toto by wearing my Pepa Loves tee which features little dogs on the sleeves.

For accessories, look for a picnic basket (this one was thrifted a few years back) and bring along your dog… if you have one… I wish I had one to take!

For hair you obviously need to do the infamous two plaits. The trick to the perfect Dorothy locks is starting your braid up really high (almost like a boxer braid) and leaving a large section of hair loose at the bottom. In the Wizard of Oz, Dorothy does have blue ribbons – I just couldn’t resist red to match my lipstick. That and I didn’t have any blue ribbon ; )

This look is all about the lips. Whip out your brightest rouge (I opted for Ladybug by MAC) and finish up your eyes with a simple coat of mascara. Oh, and lashings of liquid liner too – if you’re addicted to it, like me.

And that’s it! Happy Halloween, everyone!
