Shamelessly preppy: Emmy Rossum ditches her scruffy look for bright and breezy photo shoot

As Fiona Gallagher in Showtime's Shameless, Emmy Rossum always looks grey and drab.
But in a new fashion shoot for Self magazine the 25-year-old actress experiments with bright colours, floral prints and stripes.
Gone is the straggly hair that her character usually wears in the TV series that stars William H Macy.

It is replaced with an elegant chignon that the mouthy, promiscuous Fiona Gallagher probably would never try.
Emmy says she enjoyed the fun fashion shoot and the chance to present a different image to the world.
The doe-eyed actress tells the US fitness magazine: 'I had so much fun in these clothes - they're feminine with an edge.

'It's liberating to mix it up, pairing stripes with florals or wearing two brights together. It makes your style unique.
'And it's not like cutting your hair. You can always take the sweater off!'
The actress pulls off each look with the confidence of a runway model.
In one photo she wears a salmon and black wool sweater with a red chunky necklace.
In another shot she sprays a Mini Cooper with water while modelling a dress that most women in the real world wouldn't wear while washing a car.

The two-tone pleated dress is a Louis Vuitton creation, as is the orange sweater, which matches the Manola Blahnik sandals.
In another cute photo she holds a bouquet of flowers - a nod to the two different floral patterns she is wearing.
Emmy is wearing a blue gingham blouse with embroidered white flowers sewn on the front.
The skirt features black and white large flowers.
