Argentina, Iceland, Morocco, the United States and more. The list of countries that self-proclaimed “restless globetrotter” Nuria Val (@frecklesnur) has been to is an impressive one – and it is ever-expanding. Nuria, who is a creative director with a great eye for photography, chases landscapes around the world to keep herself creatively stimulated. “Nature is my biggest inspiration,” she explains, as we scroll through her Instagram feed that displays a vibrant mix of turquoise sea, lush greenery and rolling mountains.

Her beautiful and eye-catching pictures have won over thousands of followers but they are captivated by more than stunning panoramic views. Her effortlessly chic outfits – which feature regularly on her feed – make her a perfect choice for the style ambassador of our Summer 2019 collection. To bring her unique personality to this collaboration, Nuria picked out some of her favourite CHARLES & KEITH accessories and styled them to complement activities that mark a perfect summer day.

She also speaks to us about her beauty brand and travel plans.

You describe yourself as a ‘restless globetrotter’ who works as a photographer, model and creative director. What is your favourite thing about each of these different roles you play?

I love being involved in different roles because it opens my mind and unlocks my creativity. In front of the camera, I get to share my feelings and ideas. But being behind it is equally exciting – it is an exercise in understanding the lighting and environment.

Are there any other jobs that you want to add to your already impressive creative portfolio?

Recently, I founded my own beauty brand, which is the result of everything that has inspired me during this lifelong travel journey.

You are based in Barcelona, Spain, but travel a lot for work. What is the one thing that you appreciate the most about home when you are away?

I miss the feeling of staying in, cooking meals, going to the local markets and meeting my friends in the evenings. These are very simple affairs but they matter to me the most when I am homesick.

In terms of style, how do you think Barcelona compares with other fashionable cities?

Barcelona is really cosmopolitan. It has many talented young designers and there is a lot of sartorial freedom here.

How would you describe a perfect Spanish summer?

Summers here are very relaxing – we would go for walks around nice little beaches, swim until sunset and enjoy seafood at some cool restaurants by the sea. We are very lucky to have the Mediterranean sea.

How are you spending yours?

I just bought a little house on a beautiful land full of olive trees. So, this summer, I will be spending a lot of time refurbishing it and bringing life back to the land that has been neglected for the past 20 years.

Do you have any travel plans for this summer?

As I travel a lot, I try to avoid the airport as much as I can during the summer and spend time at home with family.

You not only have a great eye for photography but for fashion as well. How do you decide which photographs to post online?

Everything is spontaneous. I have my camera with me all the time so I never miss a moment. What I share depends on my current mood or emotion.

If you must choose one item from the CHARLES & KEITH Summer 2019 collection, what would it be and why?

I love the yellow woven flat sandals! They go perfectly well with a t-shirt and jeans combination in the day as well as a beautiful dress at night. I also think adding some colour to your summer outfits is a must.

Moving forward, are there any important milestones – in work and in life – that you hope to achieve in the near future?

I want to continue learning with ROWSE, especially about how plants can benefit us. I find it very interesting and I am enjoying the process a lot. I would also love to continue growing and working as I am doing now. I am very lucky to have my team and we have many cool plans in the works.
