As an LA native, what is the most unique thing about the fashion scene in your home city, and how has it cultivated your love for fashion?
What I love about the fashion scene in LA is that everyone has a super unique sense of style and no one is afraid to take risks! The weather also allows for a ton of flexibility in dressing up. So, naturally, it is a little more laid-back.
This has helped cultivate my love for fashion because I wasn’t your typical girly girl growing up. I have always been athletic and played sports. Living in LA has given me the confidence to embrace the tomboyish side of me. I love trying out new trends while staying true to the easy basics that I grew up wearing.
Style is often very personal, so how do you go about styling someone?
When starting out with a new client, there are many factors I take into consideration such as their age, body type, industry and personality. It is paramount to me that my clients are comfortable with what they are wearing; to make that happen, I need to understand their lifestyle and interests.
How did you fall into this career path and what do you love most about your work as an influencer?
I became a fashion influencer by chance. Four years ago, when I was working as a stylist and sharing my work online, I realised that my audience preferred to see what I was wearing on the job and it kind of snowballed from there. It was a very organic process.
I love being an influencer because it is an all-encompassing role. From styling to photography and building relationships with brands, I get to dabble in so many different areas. Plus, I love travelling, soaking up new cultures and meeting people from all over the world.
You have more than 280K followers on Instagram who look to you for style inspiration. What makes you so popular and highly regarded on social media?
I think my style and personality are what set me apart. I have a unique sense of style that is minimalist yet trendy, with dark and moody undertones. However, if you watch my Instagram stories, you would realise that my personality is quite the opposite – it is fun, bubbly and very real, and I think people are drawn to that.
As an industry insider, what are your top three Fall/Winter 2018 trend predictions?
Trends that are going to be everywhere – and that I am looking forward to most – are cowboy boots, animal prints and fresh layering with sweaters and blankets.
What’s your all-time favourite piece from the CHARLES & KEITH Fall/Winter 2018 collection?
I love the black booties. I can wear them from day to night all year round – they are super versatile!
What are your top five winter must-haves and which CHARLES & KEITH Fall/Winter 2018 item would you add to that list?
I’m all about layering and embellishing with cool details. To nail that, my top five must-have accessories are beanie, booties, knee-high boots, gloves and scarves. The CHARLES & KEITH lace-up booties are definitely on my list. They take me throughout the day in impeccable style.
