Summer Skincare Routine

Tags: skin
HEY!!! I tend to do a lot of skincare routines but am yet to do one for the summer time. I tend to switch up my routine all the time depending on where I am in the world, how much time I have, the weather and the state of my skin! I find that I am very lucky come Summer as my skin tends to love the sun. I thought I would share with you my routine for when its sunny, hot and humid, this routine may not work for everyone. I do have combination skin so its oily, dry and sometimes just normal! (nightmare)...

Any way I will get started, I will break it down into 5 steps.

SPF- It is so important to take care of your Skin in the sun, as your skin can age so quickly with a lot of sun damage. You can get specially designed SPF creams and moisturisers, however I do find they can be expensive and lot do break me out. I have found the best way to keep my face from getting burnt/damaged from the sun is making sure I use a primer and a foundation with SPF in it! A lot of foundations these days do have SPF in them so you don't need to look very far, however these are a few of my favourites.....
  • Mac Pro Longwear SPF 10
  • Rimmel London Wake Me Up SPF 15
  • Estee Lauder Double Wear SPF SPF 10
I have found over the years a lot more drugstore foundations tend to have SPF in rather than higher end foundations. Just be cautious that having SPF in foundations will most probably cause flash back!

Moisturise- Keeping your skin moisturised is important all year round, however if my skin goes dry it tends to be when its burnt, been in the sun or when its hot. In the summer I moisturise first thing in the morning and last thing at night. I do it in the morning to wake my face up and to prep it for my make up then at night to make sure its not dry before I go to sleep. Here are a list of some of my favourite moisturiser to use...
  • Hydra Genius by Loreal (AMAZING, almost like an aloe vera gel)
  • Clinique Dramatically Different
  • Clinique Prep- Start
  • The Body Shop Vitamin E and D
Even if you have super oily skin you still should moisturise as it actually helps absorb your oils up and locks in the moisture to your skin!! On very hot days I like to mix normal suncream in with my moisturisers to give me the extra SPF!!

Scrub- Recently I have been using the Clinique Sonic Brush along side their foaming face wash and I have found that using this as a gentle "scrub", really helps to get read of any dead skin, dry skin and really helps my blemishes and helps even out my skin. The brush is quite pricey however I bought mine for half price. Olay do a really good dupe which is available on amazon  and is a lot less expensive!

Mask- I am obsessed with face masks literally any kind. They help your skin so much no matter what the problem is. I have tried so many masks out recently trying to find the perfect combination for this time of year and also my skin. There is so many masks around at the moment and sometimes I find some of the cheapest are the best... I tend to use a mask every 4 days unless my skin is terrible then I go to every 3. The following few are my all time favourites!!!
  • L'oreal Detox mask
  • Sephora sheet masks (all of them are so good)
  • Primark Glycolic acid
  • Anatomicals Honey Mask
Don't go too over board on masking as using them too much will not make a difference. If you use a detoxing mask/charcoal mask make sure to moisturise after using it as you don't want to dry your skin out too much!

Remove- The last step and the one of the most important ones for make up wearers is, to remove ALL your make up before bed. I use two steps to make sure I get all my make up off the first is a cleansing oil/balm and a clean wash cloth and the second step is a micellar water. By having two steps I know I am removing all the make up in my face and clearing my pores out! You don't want to sleep in any make up as it will clog up your pores which is likely to cause break outs, dryness and all round bad skin and no one wants that right!? Some of my favourite products to remove my make up are the following...
  • Liz Earl Cleanse and polish
  • Caudalie  Make up remover
  • Caroline Hirons Cleansing balm
  • Garnier Micellar water
There we go so that is it, I hope you enjoyed this post. Let me know in the comment section below what your favourite skin care products are for the summer times. Thank you so much for reading!
