Pick the Proper Length

Once again, there is no rocket science behind this: if you want your hair extension to look completely natural, buy one that IS 100% natural. As we mentioned above, another advantage of virgin hair extensions is the fact that they can be treated like real hair – cut, dye, style, you name it. You can even wash and blow-dry them just as you would your natural hair. These are things that you can’t do with most synthetic hair extensions.

Difference Between Virgin and Remy Hair

Virgin hair is unprocessed (no chemicals, no artifical hair color etc) that is collected from a single hair donor – untouched, as the name would suggest. So when you buy virgin Brazilian curly hair you can rest assured that the hair is naturally curly.

Remy hair is also collected from a single donor with the cuticles still intact, but it may have been processed at some point of its lifetime.

So, not all 100% human hair qualify as virgin or remy. Unless it matches the strict criteria of these mentioned above, it may have been collected from the floor of a salon for example and then recycled.

Pick a Grade that Suits Your Needs

The grading systems are made by hair makers to differentiate their products quality-wise. They don’t follow any universal standards and they apply only on the extensions made by the same company. This means that a grade 8A hair extension by one firm is not necessarily the same quality hair as 8A from another firm. 8A is usually a “premium” quality but there are even 9A and 10A grades being sold. As an example, let’s have a look at the grading system by Weave Got It:

• 5A: medium grade 100% human hair, thin hair shaft, can be dyed up to a medium brown color, will last for 6 months with proper care
• 6A: high grade remy hair, medium hair shaft, can be dyed up to a medium blonde color, can last up to 1 year with proper care
• 7A: very high grade remy hair, strong hair shaft, can be dyed up to a platinum blonde color, can last up to 18 months with proper care
• 8A: premium grade remy hair, full cuticle and a very strong hair shaft, can be dyed up to a white color, can last up to 2 years with proper care
