10 Things to Be Excited About this Fall

So the recently very chilly weather has got me thinking about fall. I honestly think that fall is my favorite season. The thick sweaters, spicy scented candles, and beautifully colored crunch leaves are just a few of the things I look forward to each year when the month of September rolls around. The other day I made a list of things I'm excited about this coming fall, hopefully you will be as psyched as I am by the end of this list.

Cigarette Pants

These straight-leg figure flattering trousers are absolutely perfect for the chilly Fall weather. Paired with a big warm sweater or turtleneck, and a pair of loafers, this outfit is not only comfy but also gives off an air of sophistication.

 Season Two of Stranger Things

The second season of the Netflix original series "Stranger Things" comes out on October 27th, and I am looking very forward to doing some binge watching post Halloween weekend. If you haven't seen the first season, the shows follows the supernatural events of the small town of Hawkins, Indiana during the 1980s. If you like creepy, and anything related to science fiction, this show should definitely be on your watch list. (also check out this super cool new bar in Chicago based on the show)

Starbuck's new "Pumpkin Spice Chai Tea Latte"

A brand new drink got added to Starbucks menu this fall combining two favorites the Chai Tea Latte, and the Pumpkin Spice Latte. Along with this new drink is the addition of a couple new sandwiches to the menu, and the return of the Pumpkin Spice Latte. Can't wait to try these new yummies in between classes !

Time Magazines New Series "Firsts"

This new series to be released on September 7th (today) contains interviews with 46 different influential women, spanning across professions. From Aretha Franklin to Ellen Degeneres, this show will show the obstacles and success that these women have found during their respective journeys. If you're looking for some professional female inspiration, this promises to be a great watch. (find the trailer here)

The Return of the Sweater Dress

With the changing of the color of the leaves comes the return of the classic and versatile fall essential, the sweater dress. With the ability to be paired with a number of different combinations of shoes, sweaters, and jackets, the sweater dress is simple and makes your dressing process easy. If you pick the right one, they are also very warm too. (see the shop tab for links to sweater dress ideas)

Soup, Soup, and more Soup

Fall gets me in the mood for soup, whether it's a bowl of chicken noodle, or a homemade Roasted Butternut Squash, its the perfect meal after a chilly walk back from class. Personally, I like to pair my warm bowl of soup with a good book and a soft blanket. In addition to it's toasty quality, soup is also healthy if you have the right recipe. I've included a recipe for homemade roasted butternut squash, chicken noodle, and autumn minestrone .

Pumpkin Spice Pancakes

A twist on your everyday flapjack, pumpkin spice pancakes are the perfect addition to your fall breakfast table. Made with vanilla almond milk and pumpkin puree, this recipe offers a delicious option for vegans, as well as those just looking for a way to make breakfast healthier.

Road Trips

Reaching the end of my time in college, I am so ready to go out and experience new people and places. One of the easiest and cheapest  ways to do this is a road trip, and what better time than fall. Theres nothing more fun than a group of friends in the car with good tunes and good snacks driving through windy roads with beautiful scenery.

DIY Crafts

I'm not a super crafty person, but when I have some spare time I love saving money and making decor for my room/ apartment myself. One kind of decor that I have gotten into recently are cute garlands. I have a pretty pink, gold, and peach tassel garland in my living room right now. Fall is a great excuse for a seasonal garland, and I love these yarn pumpkins, that are so easy to string and hang anywhere.  (also very excited about these painted pumpkins)

10

Famers Market

Fall is a great time of year to take weekly trips to the farmers market. Apples, pumpkins, corn, and gorgeous flowers line the streets; the farmers market is a great place to buy any fresh produce needed for a fall dish. Going to the farmers market is a great weekend morning activity, and is not only a delicious outlet for food, but is also a great excuse to be outside in the crisp fall air.

xx,

Seff
