Snowbombing Fancy Dress

Hailed as “the mother of all mountain music festivals” by The Sunday Times and the greatest show on snow, Snowbombing is a snow festival not to be missed. Experience high energy days on the slopes, wild apres ski, Igloo raves, and music as fresh as the powder. Dont forget your Fancy Dress as this year its time to get Freaky! More on that later....

When: 3rd to 8th April 2017

Where: Mayrhofen, Austria

Headliners: Chase and Status, Run the Jewels and Courteeners

Best for: Party Animals

Cost: From £299 for festival wrist band and accommodation.

The Festival

Snowbombing marks the end of the Austrian ski season so expect a full on, high energy, blow out event. The line up this year includes Chase & Status, The Courteeners, Groove Amarda, Run the Jewels and Andy C to mention just a handful.

Mornings are best spent on the slopes, apres ski starts anytime after noon and night crawlers can hit the dancefloor until the small hours thanks to rolling DJ sets across the resort. Check out the daily line up and experience igloo raves, street parties, arctic discos, mountain stages and end up in the main arena.

This years Fancy Dress theme is Freakadelic Circus. Dress to impress as Snowbombing take fancy dress rather seriously especially on their annual Road Trip (see below). Pull on your leotard, dig out your top hat and ring masters coat and get ready to get freaky! Pack a few animal onesies for good measure and prepare for a high energy Tiger adventure, a Panda exploration or a "roaring day" in the powder dressed in a Dinosaur onesie.

The Resort

Expect a warm Austrian welcome in Mayrhofen with beautiful landscapes, a selection of well pisted runs for all abilities, world class powder and a gravity defying snow-park. Coupled with a lively atmosphere, a vibrant party scene, mountain bars serving chilled beer and sun, we can see why this resort attracts both newbies and a regular crowd who return year after year.

Enjoy 135km of slopes in the Mayrhofen area or upgrade to a Super Ski Pass to include the Zillertaler area and explore the neighboring valley. Sample chairlift speed dating whilst taking in the scenery or perhaps a little cable car-aoke to top singalong classics as you travel. Think James Corden does Carpool in The Alps.

Try your hand at cross country skiing, visit the Hintertux glacier or take on the Harakiri which is Mayrhofen's steepest slope with gradient of up to 78%. If you fancy a practice run, try the slightly easier Devils Run first to check that your skiing is up to standard.

Getting there

The nearest airports are Innsbruck, Salzburg or Munich and coach transfers are readily available. If you are saving the pennies for beer money, then the Snow Coach is a great alternative and is a door to door service so no need to practice your German on the local buses. Otherwise there is an option to join The mighty Snowbombing Road Trip, driving down in convey through 5 countries on a journey to remember.
