Maybelline Instant Age Rewind vs. Fit Me Concealer

Hello beauty lovers! Sorry for the delayed post but we couldn’t resist the sunshine we rarely have nowadays. Hope you had a chance to see Katelyn’s extra long wish list this week (hope your wallets aren’t totally empty). This week we are venturing into the world of concealers. To start our journey we’ll be comparing TWO concealers from Maybelline that are infamous in the beauty world.

Description – Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Treatment

This concealer will instantly create a more radiant and refreshed under-eye. The formula containing goji berry and haloxyl helps to erase the appearance of dark circles and fine lines, while also reducing puffiness around the eyes. This retails typically for $8.99USD/$12.99CAD for 6ml.

Description – Maybelline Fit Me Concealer

The Fit Me concealer provides a flawless appearance that is still natural; leaving the skin looking fresh. A translucent base and lightweight pigments allows the natural characteristics of the skin to show through. It is non-comedongenic, dermatologist and ophthalmologist tested and fragrance-free. This retails for $6.99USD/$10.99CAD for 6.8ml.

Review

Let’s start with the Instant Age Rewind concealer. Ever since we began watching Youtube beauty gurus, the concealer that everyone seemed to always mention was this Maybelline concealer. It was the classic, never fail, drugstore concealer that all makeup lovers raved about. It took us a while to purchase this product because, in our opinion, it is quite pricey for a drugstore concealer, but we eventually caved and we can see why so many people use this. It’s a great everyday concealer and brightens up the under-eyes while diminishing the look of dark circles. Our sensitive skins seem to approve of this formula. It blends well and doesn’t clump, however it can crease so be sure to set it. The sponge-tip applicator also makes it very easy to apply the concealer. While it claims to help with reducing puffiness and fine lines, neither one of us have really noticed a difference in that department. The only real con to this concealer is that it doesn’t have a great shade range. We’ve only tried one shade, but as far we can tell most people have liked only the “Neutralizer” shade, which makes it super limiting for other skin tones.

Shade: Neutralizer

In comparison, the Fit Me concealer is a relatively newer launch. However, it’s been around long enough to also become a cult favourite among beauty gurus too. It got a lot of hype because it was labeled as a dupe for the infamous and well-loved “Nars Creamy Concealer.” We’ve never tried it before (cuz das expensif…) but when we heard that there was a drugstore concealer that was comparable we couldn’t resist. What we’ve found is this one is also a great everyday concealer, especially if you are looking for something with more opaque coverage when you’ve been on a Netflix binge Bai bai panda eyes!! It gives more coverage than the Instant Age Rewind but is also a slightly thicker consistency – don’t worry though, it’s still a pretty light formula and blends out seamlessly to cover dark circles. It also has an easy to use doe-foot applicator that applies the product well and has a decent shade selection. Keep in mind that this concealer will crease too if you don’t set it with a powder, especially since the formula is a little thicker than the Age Rewind. Helen has also found that when her under eye area is very very sensitive and dry in the winter, this concealer isn’t the best one to use since it does exaggerate the dry patches and irritates the skin slightly. However, most the year, it’s still a staple for Helen.

Shade: Light 10

The major differences between the two is the coverage and shade selection. The Fit Me concealer provides more coverage, while the Age Rewind provides lighter coverage which makes it a great everyday concealer. Sometimes you don’t need that full coverage concealer; all you need is a little something to brighten up the eye area.

Bottom: Fit Me (10 Light), Top: Age Rewind (Neutralizer)
