First of all, login to your DirectAdmin server via SSH as user root

ssh root@IPaddress

Before proceeding any further, start a screen session by executing the following command in the Linux terminal:

screen -U -S softaculous

If you do not have ‘screen’ installed on your CentOS server, you can easily install it with yum

yum -y install screen

ionCube loader is required by Softaculous to function properly. To install ionCube Loader on your server, change the current working directory

cd /usr/local/directadmin/custombuild

and run the following commands

./build set ioncube yes
./build ioncube

Once IonCube is installed, your server is ready for installing Softaculous. Download its installation script to your virtual server

wget -N http://files.softaculous.com/install.sh

Make the script executable by changing the permission

chmod +x install.sh

and run the script

./install.sh

The Softaculous installer will start showing the installation progress. Please note that it may take some time for the installation to complete because all scripts have to be downloaded to your server.

Once the installation is completed and all scripts are successfully installed, login to the DirectAdmin control panel at https://yourIPaddress:/2222 and click on the ‘Softaculous Auto Installer’ icon to start using and configuring Softaculous. Once you are there you can select one of the applications listed on the left side of the screen and click ‘Install Now’ to install the application. It will be installed in the document root directory of the selected domain name. Softaculous will do everything needed to start using the selected application, it will create a database if needed, set the correct permissions of the files, etc. It also offers a backup feature allowing you to easily backup all installed applications and restore them from the backup at any time.
