As always Keyword research is the first step for creating a successful blog post. Keyword research will help for new post preparation. You have an idea for new blog post but knowing what exactly people are searching for that topic will not only help you to improve your article but also help you target keywords on search engine.

Keyword research helps you in two ways, one helps you know what exact people are searching for that topic and second you know your focus keyword for search results. You can optimize your page according to particular keyword(s) which you want to target on search engine.

You can do keyword research using Google Keywords Tool (Free) or any other keyword research tool like Market Samurai (Keyword research is free else paid software).

Competition Analysis

Knowing what people are searching for is not enough. You must know how competitive those keywords are which you have chosen. If keywords you have selected are very completive then your blog post may not easily rank well on search results.

I personally use Market Samurai for competition analysis which tells how competitive top ten results are for particular keyword. If a keyword is high competitive then I do some more keyword research for similar topic to find low competitive keyword. This helps to rank on top of search results without much effort.

Writing Article

When you are aware of topic, what people are searching for that topic and your focus keyword you can start writing. Keeping all things in mind you can write useful article which people are looking for and also on-page optimize article which can help you rank well on search results.

Note: As I told earlier keyword research helps to write quality article you should include resources and information what people are searching for that topic. By this visitors will find much information in one place and your new blog post can also rank well for different related keywords on search engine.

On-Page Optimization

On-page optimization is very important part to rank on search engine for targeted keyword. If you have done good on-page optimization sometimes you may not need to do anything else to rank top on search engines.

On-page optimization is just to focus you targeted keyword in your article. Your page title, page URL, Headings and article copy should focus on targeted keyword. For example you are writing on “Best Free CSS Editors” then you should focus your targeted keyword say “Free CSS Editors” in all suggested places (Heading, Meta data etc). I use Easy WP SEO Plugin which helps for on-page optimization. This is amazing and must have plugin for every WordPress blog.

Social Promotion

You have done lots of thing before writing now it’s time to promote your blog post. Social media is best and should be first place to promote your blog post. Social media sites can send some good traffic to your blog post and can give some backlinks which can be useful for search engine ranking.

You should not just submit your blog post to popular social sites like Facebook, Twitter, Google but also on social bookmarking sites like Digg, Delicious, Stumbleupon etc. Better to prepare a list of social website where you can regularly promote your blog post.

Link Building

If you want to bring your blog post on top of the search engine then you should also focus on link building for particular blog post. When you have done lot of important steps for better SEO like keyword research, on-page optimization, social promotion they you may not find much difficulty to rank top of search results.

Back-links are very important parameter for search ranking and you should also focus on building backlinks for your blog post. You can build backlinks by commenting on other blog which will point link back to your blog post, guest posting etc.
