Content Marketing & How to Turn 1 Piece of Content into 11

Have you ever felt like you’re trapped behind a towering wall of content creation demands? Cracking the code to consistent, high-quality content creation has been an enigma for marketers and creators alike. The pressure to meet deadlines and maintain quality can be daunting. Ideas seem to evaporate, and you’re left grappling with the clock.

But what if I told you that you already possess the codebreaker?

You might not realize it, but beneath the surface of your existing content, is a world of untapped potential. That one brilliant piece of content? You could easily transform it into ten, or even twenty!

Yes, you heard that right.

If you still don’t believe me, then let me take you through the art of content transformation where I’ll show you how, exactly, you can multiply your content output.

1. Livestream

Not everyone is comfortable with video. That’s understandable. However, the reality is that there are a lot of missed opportunities when a business chooses not to include video in their content marketing strategy.

Sure, everyone throws in the argument that, “We’re just not in a niche that’s suitable for video content.” However, the reality is that that’s far from the truth.

Even cleaning tools like pressure washers, vacuum cleaners, or all kinds of detergents have video content. Surely you’ve seen those videos where dreadfully dirty dishes shimmer and shine with just a single wipe of a wet cloth and some magical dishwashing soap, or where a year’s worth of grime and soot in your garage comes clean off after running a pressure washer through the concrete.

A simple livestream of someone using your product, testing it, or talking about it can be a valuable first piece of content. In fact, even unboxing videos still have their audiences in this day and age of video content.

If you’re in the B2B industry, you could do a livestream where you talk a little bit about the service you’re offering, or you teach a little bit about your field of expertise.

2. Long Form Video

So, let’s say that you did do a livestream recently. Now, how do you Turn that single piece of content into 10 more?

The first way to repurpose this is to post it as a long form video on YouTube, or any other video platform. Remember, YouTube isn’t just a social video platform. It’s also a search engine. In fact, it’s owned by Google!

Therefore, reposting it over on the platform means plus points to your organic traffic and discoverability.

Hence, when you do publish the video onto YouTube, make sure to target all the relevant keywords in the video title and description. That way, you’ll be able to better capture organic views.

3. Podcast Episode

The number of Podcasts that have bloomed and blossomed ever since the world was hit by COVID19 has grown exponentially.

The most significant difference between those who listen to podcasts and those who watch your livestream or video is that (for some reason or another) podcast listeners seem to feel more connected to the hosts compared to those who rely mainly on video content. This is most likely because those who listen to podcasts often do so with a pair of earphones. Because of this, there’s that physically more intimate connection because listeners are hearing the host directly in their ears, creating a certain sense of closeness over time.

Another benefit that podcasts have over video is that the audio-only format makes podcasts fit for passive consumption. This means that people listening to podcasts are often doing other activities such as jogging, driving, cleaning, or even doing laundry.

Lastly, the best thing about repurposing your video for podcasting is that it’s nearly effortless. All you have to do is strip the audio from the video and you’re practically ready to publish.

4. TikToks, YouTube Shorts, and Instagram Stories & Reels

At this point, you already have three different pieces of content that you’ve put out. From this point on, that will only multiply.

When you think about it, not everyone has the time to absorb thirty to sixty minutes of video or audio content. That’s why many creators decide to turn that hour-long video into multiple clips and snippets. This alone can give you a ton of additional content that you can spread out over days, or even weeks.

Simply cut out the mightiest, meatiest, and most interesting parts of your video and turn them into TikToks, YT shorts, and IG stories that are perfect for light consumption.

You can always add a link to the short video that leads viewers to your full-length episode later on.

5. Blog Post

Now that you’ve repurposed that original video a dozen or so ways, it’s time to look at another medium: text. If you’re short on time, there are a ton of tools online that can quickly churn out a transcription of your video that you can then turn into a lengthy blog post.

The benefits of doing this are tenfold!

With a little editing here and there, you can easily transform the transcript into a blog that’s perfectly optimized for search engines. Format and structure it in such a way that you’re highlighting the keywords in the title, headers, and body, and you’ve got yourself an entirely new piece of content with just a couple of minutes of work.

6. LinkedIn Article

Publishing content on your website’s blog is great for driving traffic to your website. However, if you’re in the B2B industry, you can also look into publishing that same Article over on LinkedIn. Because of its inherently professional audience, there’s tremendous potential and opportunity for new business with each article you publish on the platform.

By republishing your content on LinkedIn, you’ll be able to further establish yourself as an expert in your field. It’s the perfect avenue to really show off your knowledge and position yourself as an authority on your subject.

7. Email Content

If you have an existing mailing list, then another way that you can repurpose that one blog post is by sending it to your subscribers. You can send it in its entirety, give them a summary, or share only the juiciest parts. You can also include a link to either your website or your LinkedIn article to give it an extra boost in views and traffic.

8. Quotes & Graphics

Now, similar to how you chopped up your original video into shorter lengths, you can do the exact same thing with your blog content. Take the best parts of your article and turn them into quote graphics! You’ve probably seen hundreds of them on Facebook, Instagram, or X.

If your video, for example, has quotes and testimonials from customers and clients, you can quickly take those and turn them into graphics for social media. If you’ve got before and after shots of what your vacuum or pressure washer can do, then turn those into images and graphics as well.

You don’t need to wrack your brain trying to think of new content. All the ideas are already on the table. It’s just a matter of rearranging them to fit the proper platform or audience.

9. Text Posts

Sometimes, a square quote graphic isn’t enough to capture the essence of what it is you’re trying to say. This is where text posts come in handy. Believe it or not, there are people who do read those long purely text posts on Facebook. The same is true on LinkedIn.

Storytelling plays a big role in these text posts. And so, if you shared a story or testimony in your original video, then go ahead and share the text version of those stories over on these platforms.

10. X’s & Threads Posts

Ever since Elon Musk made the switch from Twitter to X, there’s been a bit of a debate and discussion as to what people should now call what were formerly known as tweets. And while there have been a couple of very interesting suggestions, such as “Xpressions” or “Xcerpts”, it seems that the default for now is just “posts”.

That being said, Twitter (or X) has always been known and viewed as a kind of micro blogging platform, where people can easily share little snippets or nuggets that reflect what goes on in their heads at a given moment.

So just like you cut up your blog post into smaller bites to fit into an image, you can do a similar thing for platforms like X or Threads that lean a bit more towards text.

11. Carousels and Slide Decks

Did you know that on Instagram, if a person saw the first slide of a carousel but didn’t swipe over to the next, there’s a high chance that they’ll see the second slide of that same post the next time they jump onto the platform?

One great way to go about turning your original content into carousels is—if you did a video with a step-by-step process, for example—putting each step of your process into slides. So, let’s say you did a video for how to roast the perfect turkey. You can take each step and turn them into slides that you can share on Instagram.

Or, if your business is B2B, you can turn a blog post like this one into a deck that people can choose to read over a full-length article.

A lot of people tend to overthink content marketing and creation. They think that have fresh and new ideas every time, for every platform is what is required. However, the truth is that most people are so inundated with all these different sources for entertainment and distraction—so much so that making a piece of content exclusively for a single platform no longer makes any sense.

Stop overthinking. It’s okay to repurpose and reshare the same piece of content in ten different ways on several different platforms. Chances are, not everyone will see it plastered across all your social platforms. Because the truth is, not everyone is on Instagram, or Facebook, or TikTok, or X.

In the end, I hope that this post gives you a glimpse into how you can leverage your time and efforts into creating content faster and smarter, and that it rejuvenates your content marketing efforts and strategies so that you can reach more people and skyrocket your business. And if you need some support, remember, you can always ask for some expert help.
