Who built the new Hambleside Merchandise website?

This year we took on the task of designing and building a website for a Promotional Merchandise distributor, a project that required lots of brain power, but the end result has left us extremely pleased – so pleased that we want to share the news.

Infamous with merchandise distributors around the UK, we worked with Page, who provided us with access to their vast amount of data, 1,366 products worth of data to be precise. We then cleansed and manipulated the data to put it in a format that would work seamlessly with Magento.

So what makes it so great?

The website uses a Magento, an e-commerce platform to guide customers through a user friendly online shopping experience. It was an extensive project that underwent endless revisits and reviews until perfection (or as close as you can get too!). To most, a Magento website with 1,366 products is actually quite forward, and we agree…but in order to set our customer aside from their competition, we took the project to the next level; 10,068 price breaks (different price breaks per product), 10 different Print Options and up to 2 print options available on products, next level.

One of the key aspects that sets this framework aside from every other layout is the level of customisation available, and raises the bar for standards across the online merchandise industry. Customers can now, within reason, create their dream product; our system not only allows customisation but encourages it through the extensive amount of options.

Here’s how it works…

There’s no need to talk about how great it is when the system speaks for itself, here’s what happened when I used it to create some boxChilli merchandise. Choosing a bag as my first product from the extensive range I opted for a canvas bag which not only comes in a wide range of quantities, but with options to personalise the bag.

Following an easy process, in the ‘select options’ section I upload my desired image (the boxChilli logo) in a EPS format to the website, and added to my basket – it’s as simple as that.

In this section there is also an add text feature, which has a large variety of fonts – much more than the standard system offers. If I select ‘Upload Image’ or the ‘Text’ Option.

However, this system goes beyond just brilliant image and text options, it also offers the function to personalise with any Colour possible providing customers the ability to have an exact colour printed rather than be limited by a set colour determined by the limitations of the website. Pantone colour are recognised worldwide as a standard language for colour communication from designer to manufacturer to retailer to customer; and our framework uses their reference codes to give the customers any colour they desire.
