Check out our weekend rundown:

Explore the Butterfly House at Cox Arboretum

What better way to kick off your weekend than by visiting the beautiful Cox Arboretum? Enjoy their beautiful living showcase of the beautiful native southwest Ohio butterflies and moths at their butterfly house. Now is the time to visit, as the peak season ends in August! Cox Arboretum will even have knowledgeable volunteers on hand in the mornings to help answer your questions.

Sample a new brew at the Dayton AleFest

Head to the Dayton Convention Center on Saturday for the 19th annual AleFest Dayton, which features over 400 of the finest beer styles in the world in a responsible, educational, and enjoyable fashion. Along with samples of craft beer from around the world, the event features food trucks, a commemorative sampling glass, and a silent auction and raffle with a portion of the event proceeds benefitting the Dayton Area Rugby Club.

Social Media Update: LinkedIn Rolls Out a New Video Feature

LinkedIn has always been the go-to platform for making business connections, keeping up to date with the professional world, and sharing a digital version of your resume. Now, LinkedIn (which is owned by Microsoft) is trying to keep up with social media sites like Facebook and Twitter with its own video strategy. This week, LinkedIn launched their video upload feature on their iOS or Android mobile app. The question, of course, is what kind of content should a user upload to LinkedIn? The idea is that users will use the visual appeal of videos as a medium to showcase their professional work: projects that are finished or in progress, product demos, motivational speeches, or other videos that highlight what you do. And there’s more good news: LinkedIn may soon introduce live video as well — LinkedIn’s new feature is headed up by a product manager from Facebook Live, Peter Roybal.

Apple seeks to make AR an everyday reality

AR (augmented reality) is still in the early experimental stages for marketers and media companies, but it has already become popular among teens and tweens through Snapchat with its AR filters and graphics. Now, with Apple’s release of iOS 11 in September, the company will allow millions of Apple owners to access augmented reality with new features called ARKit. One of the first major brands that will collaborate with Apple’s new AR platform is Ikea, which plans to develop an app that allows customers to see their potential new furniture in a three-dimensional view in their own homes. This development unleashes a world of creative possibilities to get more consumers engaged with brands in the context of their everyday activities.

Have a great weekend!
