“Spidey’s secrets: 7 fun facts to know – webbed armpits, homemade suit, wall-crawling abilities, radioactive spider bite, nemesis J. Jonah Jameson, loves science, once had four extra arms.”

Spider-Man is one of the most beloved and enduring superheroes in history, having appeared in Comics for over sixty years. Throughout his many adventures, writers have come up with some truly bizarre stories for the web-slinger. Here are just a few:

1. Spider-Man once inadvertently killed Mary Jane with his radioactive sperm in the comics Spider-Man: Reign.

2. Spider-Man once met God after Aunt May was shot and killed by a sniper.

3. In the comics, Spider-Man’s powers come from the Great Weaver, a totemic spider deity.

4. In an alternate reality, Peter Parker grew four extra arms after trying to rid himself of his superpowers.

5. Spider-Man once had a strange romance with Silk, a teenager who was bitten by the same spider that gave Peter his powers.

6. The hyphen in Spider-Man’s name was added by co-creator Stan Lee to differentiate him from Superman.

7. In one of the most bizarre Spider-Man stories ever, he was reborn with organic web-shooters after being infected by a mutagenic enzyme from a mutant called the Spider Queen.

Despite these strange stories, Spider-Man remains one of the most iconic superheroes of all time.
