5 Signs Your Website Needs a Facelift

Is it Time to Give Your Website a Facelift?

It isn’t fair to judge a book by its cover. But unfortunately, when it comes down to website appearance, this happens for real. A study entitled ‘Trust and Mistrust of Online Health Sites’ backs this up.

For 4 consecutive weeks, 15 test participants were tasked to search the Internet for health information relevant to them. After which, they were asked about their impressions on the websites they visited. Results showed that 94% of factors mentioned that led participants to mistrust a website were related to design.

First impressions matter. Just as how you want to look presentable when in front of your clients, your website also needs to be visually-appealing. Your website design is what visitors see first before they even read your content.

How do you know your website needs a Professional redesign? We’ve listed 5 signs you can check.

  1. Outdated information. You’ve already moved to a new location and yet your website still reflects your old address. Or it still has your old contact details which you no longer use. At first look, it’s obvious that it’s been years since website design professionals worked on your page. Everything looks and feels old. Even you don’t find the visuals interesting anymore. Add to that, nothing on your website tells about your social networking profiles that you regularly update and use to connect with your customers.
  2. Unresponsive. When you open your website through mobile phones or other browsers, everything looks terrible. A responsive website conforms to the size of the screen to ensure smooth user experience. According to a study, mobile phone usage has now overtaken desktop usage. The number of consumers turning to mobile will only increase over time so you need to step up your game too.
  3. Slow page load speed. If you can’t stand having to wait for more than 5 seconds for a page to load, then so does your target audience. Whether there is something wrong with the code or the graphics that you use, web designers and developers can resolve these issues for you. Don’t wait any longer to call on professionals that can help you improve your website design.
  4. Poor navigation. Consumers should find it easy to navigate your website. Search filters should be in place and content should be categorized properly. You need to eliminate as many roadblocks as possible too. If visitors can’t find what they need fast, it’s likely they’ll turn their backs and move to your competitors. You don’t want that.
  5. Low traffic, high bounce rate. Bounce rate refers to the percentage of visitors that leave a website after seeing only a single page. There are several factors that could result in a high bounce rate. And one of which is the look of your website. If your data show that visitors barely stay on your website, then there must be something wrong. Whether it’s the content, images, or the overall interface, you can’t afford to keep losing potential clients. Keep visitors glued to your website and soon they’ll convert into actual customers.
