Part 1: Interview with Mclean Fahnestock, artist, Los Angeles, 5 April 2013
McLean Fahnestock works across media, from video to multimedia photographic work. Her grandfather was John Sheridan Fahnestock, an explorer who led many expeditions throughout the southern Pacific Ocean in the 1930s and 1940s, making anthropological recordings of music in the region. McLean's artistic picks up this thread of exploration, with works that consider the changing cultural value of exploration in a world where conquering physical frontiers seems to have lost its appeal. And at one point of the interview, we're just a pair of space nerds sharing stories about Kennedy Space Centre.
