The Riverside Transit Agency (RTA) is known a large bus service that provides both local and regional services in the western Riverside County. The RTA is responsible for coordinating transit services in the 2,500+ square mile service area, as well as other local services. Their mission statement is to provide a variety of transportation needs in a cost-effective and efficient manner for all residents in the member communities. On Saturday October 15, the Riverside Transit Agency hosted a one-day special hiring event at the RTA headquarters. Everyone who was at least 21 years of age with a good driving record and stable work history were encouraged to apply. Prior experience was not required since paid training was offered. RTA also offered on-the-spot hiring for qualified candidates. RTA bus drivers will begin on a part-time basis, with a starting wage of $15.77/hr. New trainees will be coached by professional instructors and will be required to earn their Commercial Driver's License (CDL) certification.
