Pearl Bailey was an American actress and singer who lived from March 29, 1918 – August 17, 1990.  She was also the recipient of several performance awards including a Tony Award for the title role in a 1968 all-black version of Hello, Dolly! and a Daytime Emmy Award for her performance in an ABC Afterschool Special - Cindy Eller: A Modern Fairy Tale.
