It’s that time of year again where everyone is putting up their Christmas trees and dragging out the giant box of old Ornaments.

Doesn’t it sometimes seem like you do the very same old thing year after year after year?  You schlep all those boxes out of the attic (And that gets harder and harder to do every year….right?) and try to make your tree look happy and festive and fresh.

In case you’re looking for some inspiration and ideas I thought I’d do a post on Christmas tree décor to see if it might help you come up with some new fresh ideas for your tree this year.

I’ve said this before….if you are wanting a full, lush tree remember to go more large scale than small scale and cluster items together like you see here.

Take some different size ornaments and group them together so they are much more showy.

And have fun using items that are more unusual….maybe not even actual ornaments.

Like these owls and giant pine cones.

It’s amazing how much personality adding this sort of thing to your tree will create.

And also notice how they’ve clustered like items and color together….repeatedly.  That makes more of a statement than just a 100 different tiny random ornaments.  I still have all the random kiddie ornaments we’ve collected over the years and those I’ve received as gifts….I just add this sort of thing you see here to the mix to give my trees a distinct personality.

Here they’ve incorporated tons of Santa’s, bulbs and white Xmas picks.  All red, silver and white.  It gives it the tree an unmistakable, notable “character”.

Makes it festive and fun.

And I do practice what I preach.  This is a tree I did for one of my clients.

I especially love these giant size cherubs.

This is actually one of my own Xmas trees.  This little Santa box you see peeking out was actually a gift box someone gave me along lime ago.  But, it’s so cool looking I started using it on my tree.  You’ll notice I’ve clustered a variety of items together.

Here you see a violin, an angel and multiple ornaments clustered together.

If you have the space – what about putting your tree in something besides a tree stand?  Okay, so maybe not a gargantuan antique buggy, but maybe a cool piece of outdoor pottery or sentimental hand-me-down of some sort.

I love this idea.

How fun is this tree in the checkerboard sleigh.  I mean….wow!

So I stole the idea and decided to do something different and fun for my grandkid’s bunkroom this year.  I used an antique stroller I’ve had for probably twenty years or so as the base for their tree and a knit baby blanket that was a gift many moons ago as the tree skirt.

I used Beanie Babies as the ornaments.

A collection my daughter started when she was in elementary school.

Makes for kind of a fun kiddie tree!

And I used this beloved Dr. Seuss as the tree topper!

They’re spending the night with us Saturday night and it’ll no doubt be destroyed 5 minutes after they see it, but it’s fun none-the-less.

And easy to throw it back together with non-breakable Beanie Babies.
