INTERNATIONAL PLASTIC BAG FREE DAY

We should all know by now that we use too many plastic bags and the environmental problem. Here’s a day to consciously do something about it. If you are involved in retail, get cloth bags or paper bags printed and post pictures of your bag on social media showing your support of the day. Many people will have a mass of plastic bags stored somewhere. Take a picture of your stash of plastic bags and ask people if they have one too. Start a discussion about the problem and ask people what they are going to do about it.

It’s summer in the Northern Hemisphere and it’s tempting to spend too long in the sun. Even in an Australian winter, the sun can be harsh. It’s good celebration day to remind us to protect your skin from the sun’s rays. Pictures of pretty parasols or sunhats work well as well as images of the sun.

4TH JULY

INDEPENDENCE DAY (USA)

There are so many wonderful images you can share on to celebrate American Independence Day. Fireworks, family barbeques or anything with the American flag make good posts images. You can also create a fun fact quiz or celebrate the Independence Day movie.

COMIC SANS DAY

As a designing company we couldn’t let a day that celebrates a font slip past. Love it or hate it Comic Sans is probably the most talked about font and even has its own weird holiday on the first Friday of July. In 2019, this takes place on the 4th and it will be the 10th year that it has been celebrated. Find some comic sans memes or jokes to share. Or dare to use comic sans in a graphic. It’s allowed only for one day!

JACKFRUIT DAY

Make today your Independence from meat day. Jackfruit is an interesting large fruit from South Asia which can be used in sweet and savory dishes and is naturally suitable for vegans. 5TH JULY

Bikini Day

Did you that the bikini was launched to the world on the 5th July 1946 by French engineer, Louis Reard who was running his mother’s lingerie business? It wasn’t the first two-piece swimsuit, but it was considered shocking because it exposed the navel. Bikini-style woman’s attire dates back as early as 5600 BC. Whether you have a “Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini” or any other bikini, it’s time to celebrate it.

You body may not be bikini-ready, but you can always enjoy the 5th of July by celebrating the comforting Apple Turnover Day. Indulge in a decadent treat of flaky pastry stuffed with apple. World Chocolate Day

Chocoholics around the world like celebrating chocolate days (there are a few days that celebrate this treat during the year). So of course, we had to include this in our July Content Calendar!

Apparently dark chocolate is rich in antioxidants and some research suggests that dark chocolate (which has a higher cacao level than milk chocolate) may have health benefits, and who are we to argue? Any image of chocolate or recipe on social media with this magical ingredient will get your audience drooling and while you have their attention, ask them a question.

Mac ‘n Cheese is a nostalgic dish with many childhood memories. This little elbow-shape pasta doesn’t have to be smothered with a cheese sauce of course, but most people like it that way. Ask them what cheese they add or simply post a picture of macaroni cheese sauce and ask them for the first word they think of when they see it.

The world population reached 7 billion in 2011 and every year 83 million more people are added to the total. United Nation hosts World Population Day to highlight the problem of ever increasing numbers on the earth’s resources and to encourage family planning.

16TH JULY:

WORLD SNAKE DAY

There are over 3000 snake varieties and about a quarter of them are venomous, and only a small portion of these are dangerous to people. This is a day to find out more about the slithering serpent. Snakes are symbolic for fertility, rebirth, transformation, immortality, and healing so you might want to choose that angle if it works for your business.

FRESH SPINACH DAY

To balance all the unhealthy eating days in July, it is good to celebrate a healthy habit holiday. Superfood spinach is a great source of iron, calcium and magnesium.

17TH JULY:

WORLD EMOJI DAY

Lamingtons are iconic Australian culinary treats to have with tea. Squares of sponge cake coated with chocolate sauce and rolled in desiccated coconut. Delicious. SPOONERS (SPOONERISM) DAY

Spoonerism is named after nineteenth century Reverend William Archibald Spooner who was born on the July 22. He  had the terrible habit with the ‘slip of his tongue’. A spoonerism is a verbal mistake where the constants of two word are swopped often to comedic effect. He famously said “The Lord is a shoving leopard” instead of “The Lord is a loving shepherd”.
