Figure Drawing Online | Croquis Café #579 Zoé

Tuesday evenings are now particularly awesome again – and that’s because I’ve discovered online nude Drawing with iPad for myself! Because it’s such a nice tradition, Tuesdays are now reserved for it (again).

After sneaking around it for months, I’ve finally signed up with Croquis Café, and it’s even more awesome than I’d hoped – not only because the models have names, but also because there are (so far) 579 videos, 2K and great light, showing poses in real time – with breathing, blinking and smiles! – and use the available space really well!

I started here, with the this week’s video #579 – and because I was so overly enthusiastic about beautiful Zoé and her amazing poses, I drew some archive photos (there are 233 of them in total!) of her right afterwards.

This time, admittedly, I paused the video quite often, usually for longer, because I found the poses so beautiful and therefore wanted to depict them in appropriate detail. Isn’t Zoé absolutely wonderful?

With quick sketches (which are usually the basis here), I especially love getting to the point where your perfectionist head just switches off – and you don’t care anymore how “good” the drawing turns out.

It’s so meditative, and it makes me happy! It’s great to see that this works online and with Procreate too.

I used brushes from the Chromagraph Pack of True Grit Texture Supplies, which work awesome for quick lines (for me best with tilt turned off), and three shades of gray to keep the fine details from getting too dark, just like I often do when Figure Drawing the analogue way (I often use colors there, which I change later via Photoshop).

Many of my dear colleagues are participating in #Inktober, #Frightfall or #Drawtober on Instagram this month, and I also thought about it (I might even still do it?!), but right now, it looks like my October is going to be a #Figuretober, or better yet, a whole #FigureFall! Not as scary and not as inked, but definitely very happy :)

Great thanks to Croquis Café and especially to Zoé!
