EVE burst error(older translation) Review

Tags: gameplay

For a visual novel, this title seemt at first mediocre to me. But well as time went by and i came further into it... i dragged through the rather clunky and frustrating gameplay mechanics, with character switching and dialog options which at the time of playing didnt actually make any sense.

As Eve started out as a Eroge in the first japanese versions for PC engine this kind of system maybe could have felt somewhat more rewarding then for a visual novel,

the japanese version with the delicious hentai never came to the west but still we got  Natasha.

But well as i kept digging through the game which actually was very interesting in its own "time capsuley way" there we´re that translation there to comfort you with its corny 90s jokes about Bill Clinton´s threesome with Monica Lewinsky and the cigar and all kinds of other 90s antics -which atleast made me cringe(a little)  but in the end it had its own charm.

Bill Clinton is referenced in the translated game

-even if i didnt really survive to the end -the frustrations over the clunky gameplay ended my crusade prematurely, and it just stopped there in the end and well i got to blame the gameplay which i can say with confidence hasnt aged well even if games which doesnt hold your hand are desired this just felt ridicolous, as the story actually was really interesting if not hidden behind a broken system. Which probably will not swoon newer generations to this kind of game. If they dont actively search for it of course.

As i havent played newer releases of the game yet, this review are for the older PC-version on CDs.

Gameplay: 4/10
Story: 9/10
Design: 7/10
OVERALL: 6,5/10
