10 Most Anticipated Games of 2016

As we dive head first into 2016 and our bank accounts steadily survive January, here at gamesGRABR we can’t help but think about what games we will be playing this year. We’ve compiled a list of our 10 Most Anticipated Games of 2016. Starting with…

1. The Legend of Zelda

Set for a release on the Wii U, this is the most anticipated game of the year for us! Much like every other release of Zelda, it is an action-adventure game and takes place in a fully connected overworld. The game intends to challenge the player by having them complete dungeons in a specific order.  The Legend of Zelda has so much more freedom than any other in the franchise, allowing players to discover the open world as much as they please. The game world is the largest the Wii U’s hardware can handle and the overworld can be discovered on foot or on Link’s horse, Epona.

2. Far Cry Primal

Released on February 23rd, Far Cry Primal is a spin off from the Far Cry series with the last release (Far Cry 4) in 2014. The game will be released on Playstation 4 and Xbox One but will be released on PC in March 2016. The game is set in the Stone Age and is based around the story of Takkar, who starts off as an unharmed hunter but quickly becomes leader of a tribe. The graphics for this game are absolutely incredible and the open-world of Oros is teeming with Mammoths and Saber-tooth tigers for you to fight and even ride! Almost everything is out to kill you in this game, but it wouldn’t be a Far Cry game without that element, right?!

3. No Man’s Sky

No Man’s Sky is the game that will take you 500 billion years to complete; no we’re not joking. With 18 quintillion planets to explore, No Man’s Sky will keep you occupied for hours, days, weeks and years. The game is formulated from mathematical equations and not stored on the disk at all, which means the game isn’t a gigantic file size for all your PC users. Every time you discover and new planet or a creature that no one else has, you’ll get the credit for visiting a planet that perhaps no one else will ever find. It’s not all about discovery though; essentially this is a game of surviving to tell the tale. It’s being released in June 2016 on PS4 and PC and frankly, we can’t wait to burn through the hours on this one.

4. The Last Guardian

The Last Guardian is a game that has been in development since 2007 and was set for release on the Playstation 3 in 2011. Since then, the game has had significant issues and set backs and is now due for release on the Playstation 4 this year.  The game itself involves a young boy who becomes friends with a giant bird, dog and cat hybrid creature who goes by the name of Trico. The two work together throughout the game to evade guards who are after them. However, the player must train and manipulate Trico as if it were a real animal.

5. Final Fantasy XV

This year, the Final Fantasy series will be celebrating its 29th birthday and to we’ve got Final Fantasy XV to celebrate this year. Released on PS4 and Xbox one, it is the fifteenth installment in the main series but it also forms part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis subseries, which also includes Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Type-O.

6. Fable Legends

After some initial confusion, it’s become clear that Fable Legends isn’t a continuation from the Fable story. Instead, it’s actually two games rolled into one. Players have the chance to be either the Hero or the Villain in the game, with Heroes playing cooperatively in an arena to kill all of the monsters, then move on to the next area until they die or reach the end. If you choose to be a villain then the game becomes a real-time strategy, as you are the person who puts the monsters into the arenas and sets traps for the Heroes. It’s the perfect 4v1 multiplayer and we can’t wait!

7. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End

Following on from Uncharted 3, Uncharted 4 is set three years after the previous story and sees Nate as a retired fortune hunter, settled with his wife. This is until his older brother Sam seeks his help to pursue the conspiracy behind Libertatia, a long lost pirate colony and its pirate treasure. This game is said to be the best adventure of the series and will test Nate’s limits. It’s coming to Playstation 4 in April and we simply can’t wait!

8. Horizon Zero Dawn

Horizon Zero Dawn is an action role-playing game developed by Guerrilla Games and is their first release since Killzone in 2004, it is also the studio’s first attempt at a role-playing game. The game itself is said to be a hybrid between Assassin’s Creed and Skyrim in terms of handling and controls but it is set in a future that is 1,000 years from the present. In the game, you play as Aloy who is a hunter and an archer as you try to navigate her through this post-apocalyptic world. Released exclusively on Playstation 4, we can’t wait to see play this one.

9. Crackdown 3

Much like it’s 2010 predecessor, Crackdown 3 is the game of ultimate mass destruction. Anything in this game can be destroyed and that’s why we love it so much. Developed by Reagent Games and released exclusively on Xbox One, this game is the best stress reliever after a hard day at work or if you just want to obliterate everything in sight.

and last but by no means least….

10. Star Fox Zero

The sixth installment in the Star Fox series, Star Fox Zero was originally meant to be released back in November 2015 but was delayed until April 2016 to allow more time for development. Nintendo have said that the game is neither a prequel nor a sequel to any other of the Star Fox games in the series. It is to be released on the Wii U and we frankly can’t wait for this 3D scrolling shooter and the return of Fox McCloud.
