Take to the Skies with the New Saitek X-56 Rhino

When it comes to flight sims, you need the best gear you can get for the ultimate realistic experience. While that means having a high-performance gaming machine, it also requires that you have the right peripherals.

A standard mouse and keyboard just don’t cut it here. Thankfully, there are options like the new X-56 Rhino from Saitek.

What’s it offer?

The New X-56 Rhino

There are some relatively obvious differences between the older X-55 Rhino and its new sibling, the X-56 Rhino. Obviously, the colors are different, but there are others that go more than skin deep.

First off, you’ll find RGB lighting onboard, so you can choose from up to 16 million different colors to customize your flights (the previous model only offered green lighting).

There are also now two small Analog Sticks. There’s one on the main Stick, and the other is located on the throttle.

If you paid any attention to the older model, you’ll realize that these locations used to be taken by buttons. The replacement with analog sticks offers a bit better accuracy, and better ease of use.

The sticks let you control pitch, yaw, up and down, left/right, and roll.
The main stick offers four different levels of resistance, allowing you to get the feel that you want (you’ll need to change the springs to change the resistance, but four different springs ship in the box from Saitek). The company is marketing the new setup as being an ideal option for use in VR games, although that remains to be seen, so your mileage may vary.

If you’re interested in the X-56 Rhino, be prepared to pony up some cash. It won’t be available until the end of May, but when it does ship, it will set you back $260 or so.

Note that it’s currently available for pre-order over on Amazon, so you may want to get your order in now.
