Back in 2016, NovaLogic was swallowed by THQ Nordic and more or less disappeared from the face of the planet. It was recently announced, however, that its single-player Comanche helicopter series will be receiving a multiplayer reboot developed by MMO developer NUKKLEAR, leading to a like/dislike ratio that’s better than you’d probably expect given the circumstances, but also worse than THQ Nordic was likely hoping for.

There’s not a lot of information out there yet, with the most promising media link leading to a folder that doesn’t exist for reasons I can’t even begin to speculate at, but what little tidbits are available are bound to irk longtime fans. For one thing, the game will be known as “Comanche” rather than being a numbered entry, following the Hitman/Tomb Raider reboot naming convention. It’ll release in Early Access on Steam in early 2020 as a team-based multiplayer game and receive regular content updates, leading some in the trailer’s comments to suspect a live service model. I can’t definitively say that there’s no single-player component, but from the information I have in front of me, the chances look slim.
But hey, it’s powered by Unreal Engine 4 and looks nice, so there’s that. Only time will tell how this project goes, but I’d have advised against it.
