Foxtail is an adventure game that won me over in a big way, and it received a teaser for its second chapter a couple days ago while I was working on upgrading the website. For anyone who’s thus far missed out on this little gem, its second chapter is planned to be released in January 2019, after which Foxtail will see a non-specific price bump. It’s apparently going to get a short discount before chapter 2 releases, though, so that might be worth waiting for if you’re on the fence for whatever reason. It’s well worth the 7 dollars (USD) that it currently costs, for what it’s worth.

As a quick refresher, Foxtail is the story of an anthropomorphic fox named Leah visiting her grandmother, and its greatest strength is how impossibly charming it is. Most of the first chapter is comprised of acquiring a set of ingredients, yet that menial-sounding work manages to be magical thanks to the world, characters, and various little touches such as puzzles with multiple solutions.

Foxtail‘s price is likely going to increase with each subsequent update, and while early access games are always a gamble, this is a special game that anyone interested in adventure games, expressive pixel art, or games that make you feel all warm and fuzzy is going to want to get in on as early as possible. Waiting for additional content is a drag, but that’s really only because of how interesting the first chapter is.
