The Fafnir re-fight took me over an hour to get past over two separate attempts, while I breezed through this Return of Guardian Ammon mission on my second try (and even then, only because my first attempt was cut short by one of those infuriatingly inconsistent temple doors that shoot fire and lasers at you). It’s obvious that Soul Calibur Legends has some major issues with its difficulty balancing, then, which raises the question of why it was released in such a state to begin with.

To be perfectly honest, it was another group of three golems that sabotaged my first attempt at this Return of Guardian Ammon mission. They pinned both Astaroth and Mitsurugi against a wall and wailed on them while the camera was confused and didn’t even have them in the frame anymore, and while both characters barely survived thanks to some last-minute switching, that stupid wall with the lasers and fire (only one of which you can block) was enough to finish them off. There were other cheap tricks like surprise boulders, but that stuff is pretty easy to see coming once you accept that Soul Calibur Legends is inclined to consistently do the most unfair thing possible at any given moment. As for Guardian Ammon himself, the fight went fairly smoothly. He seemed to have a new second phase that was a little more challenging, but being able to rely on two characters kept things bearable.

At the very end of the video, Astaroth gets a new weapon. I suppose the characters who didn’t receive new weapons before will unlock a new weapon this time around after each of the boss re-fights. I’d have made this cutscene a separate video like I did for the earlier weapons, but I refuse to put more effort into talking about Soul Calibur Legends than the developer put into making it, so my hands were tied.
