Batman: The Telltale Series

Reviewed on PC.

I've been enjoying games from Telltale Games for a long time and I never realized it until Walking Dead Telltale Series came out. There were a bunch of CSI video games on the Xbox 360 that I thoroughly enjoyed and realized it's by Telltale Games.

Using the format of Telltale that was popularized in the Walking Dead series, but over in the Batman world? Sign me up.

There definitely isn't a shock factor that you get playing Batman, then in let's say Walking Dead. However, the story is so good and fleshed out, and gives you options on how you want to portray Batman / Bruce to the world and to the people you meet. It definitely gives a sense of anticipation to see what happens in the second game, which I'll review as well, but you just salivate to and see how they'll continue the story based on the choices you make.

At the very end of this review, I will copy and paste the choices that I made while playing this game in my first playthrough. Thankfully the Telltale account still works since it's back online and I can see the choices that I made. For me, I like to enjoy games without reading FAQs, or anything like that. I want to enjoy the game in its purest form, and shape the world that I want to shape.

In comparison to other Telltale entries, I actually enjoy Batman the most. Walking Dead had definitely a fantastic story following Clementine, but the Batman world got to be hooked. I actually do plan on playing it again as Telltale released a Shadow version, essentially a black and white or film noir version of the game to make it look absolutely stunning. So I'm looking forward to playing that again and see if I'll make new choices, keep the same, alter a few, I'm not sure. I'll see what I feel when I play it again.

I hope Batman does get a third game to close off the open gaps. If it can get a third game because of the new company funding Telltale, that would be great. Presumably, they did have a third game in the works, especially with the big choices in the second game so let's keep our hopes up. Batman has been done to death in movies recently and everyone knows the story of Batman. This game though, with the choices you have, and how you can shape Batman / Bruce in the way you want to and how it affects the world around you based on that, just amazing.

Without further ado, here are my choices. You'll see where I fare with the general public.
